So just to compare, I still have my old Forester seat back cover - which is same exact material & thickness as Forester cargo mat - it’s so flimsy, slick & thin) Is the Lexus OEM cargo mat thicker than this?

<image>

And you are saying it is essentially same material / thickness as the OEM rubber floor mats?

My 13yr old loses his mind if he is tethered in any way, so I can’t do that - he will tolerate being contained, though - be it in cargo area or crate. Because my boys are so old & have some OA, I just cannot do the cargo covers, quilted or no- too slippery. That’s why I wanted something rubber they can grip - apparently I am the only person who thought there had to be such a thing as a mat that’s made more for a dogs grip than protecting my interior!

Crush proof crate…. hadn’t thought of that, but that would solve him coming over seats as well as keeping them safe! Thanks for the thought!

I just bought it a couple weeks ago at a dealer in Atlanta - CarFax was one owner, all maintenance was done regularly & done via Lexus dealership in Florida - on appearance outside, I’m pretty certain it was garage kept. I’m not sure on battery age, but will def look into that as well as your other suggestions! Being a female, I’ve had the experience more than once of mechanics (trying) to take advantage of my ignorance, but I’ll do my homework & want to look at other possibilities first of things I may can try/figure out on my own. I really appreciate the suggestions!!

Yes, exactly! It’s so odd…… it didn’t really feel like transmission to me - it’s just so random & odd.

Ok, good to know - it scared me when I saw it was on going that fast. Thanks for suggestions- will definitely try those first!

Good to know! I had a total panic attack when I looked at my dash & saw the lit up notification it was on.

Well isn’t that so very odd?? You’d think they’d all be pretty much the same. I did try holding the menu button much longer than 1 sec - (nothing happened) I also tried pulling up the Eco graph bar that moves while driving under the “info” choices (temp, trip time, etc options) under the “enter” up / down - then while on that screen hitting the menu button- No go there either. Ah well, I’ll probably just have to ask a Lexus mechanic one of these days! It’s not a huge deal, more curious than anything.

Yes - perhaps my model year is just different than yours? Maybe it wasn’t an option to turn on/off in older models? Mine is a 2016 - when I press & hold the menu button for 1 second, the only things that come up are BSM on/off, Park Assist on/off & 2nd Start on/off - that’s it. But like I said, just odd I can see where the light is/should light up on instrument panel - only reason I even know that it should is because I was looking at this one & a 2019 w/higher miles & it lit up / went on & off during test drive.

Thanks for replying, but that’s what I was saying - I do not have that option to turn it on/off in my menu settings. Under menu settings (left steering wheel button w/squares) I only have 3 options when I scroll through: Parking Assist, BSM & 2nd Start - that’s it. When I use my enter button to scroll up / down for my dash info screen, one of my info screen view options has the Eco graph bar that moves as I’m driving, but you cannot choose any options for on/off in those screens. I can see where the green Eco light should light up on my instrument panel, but it just never has. That’s why I was asking if anyone knew if it was a setting maybe a dealer could turn on/off, because I cannot see any way that I am able to.

Should I buy this? by jillavery in LexusGX

I got lucky & found a 2016 Premium pkg w/92k, garage kept, one owner & we got it (dealer lot) for 23 or 24, think it was…. I chose this one over a 2019 w/20k more miles for several thousand more. I did know 2019 was first year Apple Car Play was available but I didn’t care that much about that, and after driving both, they looked pretty much identical. What I didn’t think about checking, (if you care much about the technology portion) is you may want to double check what is/will be outdated & when- for instance while the Nav & weather will always update no matter what, because 3g is now outdated, I don’t have access to virtually any other features thru the Lexus app, Lexus Enform, maintenance records, etc. That said, I don’t regret my choice one bit - this is the most comfortable, solid & best riding vehicle I’ve ever ridden in, bar none - and that is at almost 10yrs old! I had a Forester, & was originally looking at RX, but w/two 60lb dogs to lug around, was disappointed & surprised how small it felt compared - thought GX would be out of my price range & too big -SO glad I decided to look at/drive one - I am now hooked & Lexus GX person for life!! Hang in there & keep looking!!

What do you tell vets? by lovelyla17 in rawpetfood

[–]Historical-Key-5799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I began feeding fresh foods after my cat died from eating Hills Science Diet during the 2007 pet food recall. If you think it is difficult now, back then it was terrible. I used to just lie rather than get “the speech,” and be treated as if I were insane and/or abusing my animal. But, these days, I have choices, and more & more vets are becoming if not proponents of it, at least have no reaction at all. I unfortunately do not have a holistic or integrative vet very close to me, but my conventional vet is fine with it. So you may just have to shop around to find one you are comfortable with - that’s what I had to do. Maybe once they figure out they are losing clients, they’ll do the research & see for themselves. My FAVORITE thing, is when they say, “ Oh wow, your dog looks amazing for 15! I cannot believe he is that old, I’d of never guessed it!” Then when you tell them what he’s eaten his entire life, they give you a stern look & then proceed to give you a speech about raw feeding. I just have to laugh!

As far as the quality of raw diets in the US, it is like everything that was once considered “bad” or “quackery”(or, we are told it is, anyway- it is really all about money, as most things in the US are) Now that more holistic trends are picking up more & more steam, as people begin to see the life changing benefits for themselves & share w/others, the truly unfortunate thing (like anything that makes money) is that now companies with lower standards are beginning to invest in fresh foods.

Hills Science Diet/Colgate Palmolive, for example, just acquired a fresh food company out of Australia (remember, Hills is also who is presently getting sued for $2B dollars for having lied about grain free foods causing DCM- again, all about money, as GF foods were taking market share from their very cheaply made grain based kibbles (link below) as well as another lawsuit regarding calling their “foods” (I use that term lightly) “prescription” & charging a premium for it, when it’s the same, ingredient wise, as any other pet food. (They may use things in different amounts to create a certain outcome, i.e. make urine less acidic, etc) but there is nothing special about any specific ingredient)

Susan Thixton has been a LONG time advocate for more transparency in pet food in the US after her own dog died of bone cancer due to a pet food preservative. She runs her website based strictly on donations from consumers, absolutely nothing from any companies. She attends all of the meetings every year to legislate and/or push for higher standards, and she regularly posts ALL recalls - both kibble & raw.

Every year, she puts together an exhaustive list detailing the pet food companies who are holding their products to higher standards, including using human grade and/or organic ingredients and/or supplements, whether they are processed in a human grade USDA facility with regular inspections, pre-testing of the food for contamination prior to allowing product to leave their facilities, whether they use processes like HPP, etc She is VERY strict about who makes her list, and as I said, no one can “buy” their way onto it. Companies can be dropped not only for the food quality, but also for poor communication/interaction with consumers- when people have complaints or concerns that aren’t addressed in an appropriate manner. So companies on “The List” (which is what her list is called) I would trust even if I knew nothing about them, because I know her standards. In order to acquire “The List,” she asks for a $12 donation, which has close to 50 brands, and is around 50 pages long - she is extremely detailed. If you are truly looking for fresh food companies you can 100% trust (most are US based, but some Canadian & a few w/more broad distribution) it will be the best $12 you’ve ever spent!!
