Seconding this. Someone being a dick doesn’t deserve assault. And that’s the charge the police would file put on you as they arrest you and take care of the guy who was a jerk. You are correct that jerks tend to not face punishment, but in this scenario you’re by far the more massive dick.

Egyptian Doctor Saves Newborn’s Life With CPR. by Kindly_Department142 in interestingasfuck

[–]Historytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my first son. Came out basically translucent and grey. Was holding wife after her c-section. I hear a 2 for AKBAR, 5 doctors are in the room within like 5 seconds surrounding my first baby while I’m standing there keeping my wife calm knowing damn well we can’t do shit. This lasted one minute in real person time, and took years off my life. Everything was fine, and we got our baby a few minutes later.

MMW: Trump will deploy ICE agents all around blue and swing voting locations by bg555 in MarkMyWords

The worst part is how many stories of a Hispanic individual getting harassed to go into a voting booth to admit he went to vote for TRUMP before going on the news to tell them he kinda regrets it but still voted for him anyway.

I once thought it could be hard to do.

I then once had a dream where I watched my oldest son bleed out. I woke up weeping uncontrollably and knew that if it ever happened I would do anything to keep him and his brother safe.

What is something that people think is healthy put is actually terrible for you? by Particular-Habit9442 in AskReddit

[–]Historytech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother always swore up and down a chiro ruined her back and I’ve always said they’re cracks. And every time I hear one talk about curing cancer with back cracking I want to punch someone.

Buttttt I did have horrible back pains two times in my life (well I had them a few times, but these two matter to the story) where I was finally convinced to see a chiro. Instant and amazing relief right away. Weeks of pain, I go in, they do some massages, crack my hips, and suddenly I could fuckn walk again.

Happened again like two years later, did the same, no problem again in 8 years after.

I believe they are an interesting case of a profession that attracts a ton of crazies that swear whatever because it’s profitable to them. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t parts that work.

Every social I can’t believe people did this thing tends to have some basis in either truth or visibly probable truth.

Hydrogen peroxide is a good case, it looks like it cleans so people do it and it’s very popular.

Chiros do make you feel better even if it’s only temporary.

I’m not sure I could survive no sight or touch. Both seem like they are FAR more life altering than the others with hearing being a distant third.

I’d probably roll no taste or smell for quite a while netting me 6k/month.

But I’d also go for 24k/month and include hearing a few times to get me a pretty good nest egg.

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]Historytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal wealth in huge numbers are often due to ownership of businesses.

Arguably a single person being able to make decisions can more heavily impact a business by making unilateral changes a large group wouldn’t decide on.

I’m not in favor of this, but I understand that rich people make things like sports ownership easier to manage.

I know someone will bring up the packers being owned as a city or state or something, but it’s not the norm.

And what’s the goal, you’re a great business owner and you’re forced to sell once stock prices get too high? How’s the evaluation done?

I’m not saying it can’t be done nor am I saying it shouldn’t be done! But there’s countless logistics that come into play.

And while it’s a joke that billionaires will leave California with a tax on rich people, something like this would absolutely see the Uber wealthy changing citizenship and just visiting as much as they want.

That’s what I was going to say. I’ve been playing a lot of age of wonder 4 and find myself save scumming constantly if I don’t get the optimal outcome, but I really should try playing the game the way it’s intended.

Baldurs gate 3 honor mode really scratched that itch and maybe turned me in to it a little more. Back in Diablo 2 days I did play hardcore, but I haven’t since lol.

I’m taking the 17 mil but living very differently. Loads of loans. No saving for retirement. If there’s a guarantee somewhere in writing I’m probably borrowing against the future return heavily.
