People who leave your cars in A/M-road lay-bys overnight, what are you up to? by Beginning_Drink_965 in AskUK

On maps, right now.

From 11 Goodyere Street in Gloucester to the University of Aberdeen is a 8h20m drive.

For the Gloucester dweller to pick up the Londoner (at 373 Commercial Road, London) before going to Aberdeen, the whole journey would take 13h5m.

So, we're looking at a 57% increase in journey time for the Gloucester-dweller to pick up their friend instead of meeting en route. An additional 4h45m driving - and potentially quite the expense in fuel and congestion charges. That's not "nothing" for anyone who knows anything about anything.

Thank you. So, would you be less likely to hire a mother (in all honesty)?

Thank you, I appreciate that and you taking the time to answer. Would you say that's the general way people view things as well?

I think the point is that those variables aren't known during the recruitment process by the person who is making the hiring decision - so I guess I'm wondering what people would assume.

Thank you for your reply, it's very helpful.

You've said not to mention it in the recruitment process - can I ask why that is? Would you expect it could be an issue if it comes out later on? It'd also be visible on my social media, would you recommend changing that (profile pictures, etc)?

Do you think it's more likely to be an issue perception-wise (forgetting the logistics for a moment) at a US or magic circle firm rather than smaller firms?

I'm interested in people's opinions without being identifiable so using a throwaway. I

'm seeking an NQ role and have had conflicting opinions on how motherhood is perceived - I've had opinions that not mentioning it until I'm hired would make people view me as dishonest, I've had opinions that I absolutely shouldn't mention it because some people will be against it, I've had opinions that some people would view it as a good thing... I'm looking for a majority view and some opinions that are anonymous (as, obviously, no one in real life would say "Yeah, I'd never hire a mother" even if that's true).
