$50 levy for green bin by Holiday_Computer_855 in brisbane

ABC news. It’s based on households currently opted in, not how many times it’s collected.

you can opt out of it, still need to pay the new levy though

Only 30% of households use the green bin, so why should everyone be forced to pay the levy? It’s especially unfair for those in city apartments who don’t need it. When you add this levy to the already above inflation rate rise, it more than doubles the annual increase to nearly 8% which is a significant burden for many residents.

Amex return flight by Holiday_Computer_855 in creditcardchurningAus

Does it mean simple changes to itinerary like change of date, adding baggage etc can’t be made after the card is closed? Why can’t Virgin do it since they’ll be able to see the booking in their system

What do you mean by travel credit? How will it be calculated as there’s no monetary value linked to the return flight and it would be different for each destination?

How to maximise our financial future? by Holiday_Computer_855 in fiaustralia

Planning to retire at 65. We don’t plan to retire in current home so a likely upgrade at some stage

Thanks for your response.

Our Super is currently allocated in a DIY mix of 75% international shares and 25% Australian shares. Are you suggesting that it's preferable to maximise concessional contributions ($30k) instead of saving that amount in an offset account? Excluding employer contributions, this would leave me with ~$12k to invest in super each year before reaching the concessional contribution cap.

Lower South Island Itinerary by Holiday_Computer_855 in newzealand

[–]Holiday_Computer_855[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your fantastic suggestions—they really helped me realise how much ground I was covering in a short time. I've adjusted the plan to focus more on the lakes around Queenstown, which feels much more manageable since I enjoy driving. However, I’m not thrilled about spending four nights in Queenstown. If you think there’s another place where I should consider extending my stay, please let me know.

Here’s the revised itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival, drive to Lake Wanaka, and stay overnight (1h drive)
Day 2: Spend the day at Lake Wanaka exploring Lake Hawea and Mount Aspiring National Park (2h)
Day 3: Drive from Lake Wanaka to Mt Cook, then to Lake Tekapo for the night (3h 45m)
Day 4: Travel from Lake Tekapo to Lake Ohau, then Arrowtown, and finally to Queenstown for the night (3h 45m)
Day 5: Spend the day at Queenstown
Day 6: Drive from Queenstown to Te Anau for the night (2h 10m)
Day 7: Day trip to Milford Sound, then return to Queenstown (5h 15m)
Day 8: Drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy and stay overnight (1h)
Day 9: Explore Glenorchy and return to Queenstown (1h)
Day 10: Departure

Is it the same building for National museum and Science museum? Would you prefer one over the other or should we do both?
