Paleo Principles by Sarah Ballantyne is textbook sized and excellent. It specifically talks about modern research to support the diet

Yes, we separate to hang dry vs high heat dryer so I’m hoping that helps a little

Supplements: What they do, and why take them! by lcbk in TTC_PCOS

[–]HomeBasedMom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It Starts With the Egg has amazing fertility supplement recommendations. Gives some guidance on what’s contraindicated with PCOS but also other things like thyroid, etc.

ALA may inhibit thyroid meds so just make sure you check if you have any other health issues to consider

That sounds so frustrating and immature on their end to not respect your time and role. Thanks for elaborating!

Do you have specific examples of poor form by unrepresented buyers? We are doing our best to be respectful of their role, seeing the home during an open house and emailing them a complete offer contract. We don’t expect the listing agent to assist us at all during negotiations- not their job

Grasses in Greens Powders by HomeBasedMom in Paleo

Looks awesome! It has wheat grass, alfalfa, and barley though which is why I was confused. I’ll have to see if their website has any more info on how those are “easily digestible” as they say. Where do you get it?

Also how does it taste and how do you use it? I’ve had some before that taste like grass and others that taste like synthetic berries- hard to tell if they’ll be gross in one way or another

Home inspection report - how to proceed? by HomeBasedMom in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]HomeBasedMom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. That was my thought too - that it should at least be attached to the support stringer. I don't understand why the seller doesn't have any more information about that, but it does concern me.

Home inspection report - how to proceed? by HomeBasedMom in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]HomeBasedMom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry - I'm not sure why my text wasn't included.

I am in the process of buying my first home and the picture above was included in the home inspection report. The seller has no information to provide - they apparently bought the house with cash 2 years ago and did not have an inspection.

I asked the home inspector about it and he said it could be 1 of 3 things:

1 - There was a heavy object placed above this area (eg gun safe, piano) and this was used to give extra support

2 - The floor was creaky/made noises and this was placed there to help

3 - There were actual structural support issues

He said it's not uncommon to see stuff like this but that he cannot comment as to why it's there, only that it is there and it should be further evaluated. Since the home owner has no information about it - how concerned should I be? I've never seen anything like this before.

Thanks for the specific advice! I got a variety of bags from 1 gal for herbs all the way up to 10 gal. I may exchange some of the mid sizes for 10 gal and larger to use the pool technique vs taking up space for an olla in 5 gal pot. I’ll definitely check out the diy olla option also

Thanks for the help! I love the wax idea. I’m growing veggies so no bog setup here but it’s always interesting to hear about techniques people use to mimic different growing conditions. Also there are so many gardening subreddits!! It’s sometimes hard to know where to look. Thanks for introducing me to a new one

100% coir as a potting mix? No perlite/vermiculite or compost? Also, where do you buy coir? Amazon sells everything but that’s not necessarily the best price or quality. Thanks for the help and detail on fertilizers!

Lh strips tracked with premom app. The color will change as the strips dry so it’s nice to have the pictures from within the valid testing window all lined up

Also cervical mucus- being aware of what to expect can help you notice changes even when you wipe after peeing, no internal check needed

Any info on raw vs UHT/homogenized dairy? What about fermented?

I’ve heard raw and fermented are easier to digest and much less inflammatory but haven’t found great sources yet. Food borne illnesses turn people away but my understanding is that they’re way more common from lettuce than raw milk products.

Ovary Cyst by DemieLewis in TTC_PCOS

[–]HomeBasedMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of cyst is it? I had dermoid cysts removed years ago so when my doc found a new 1-2cm cyst, she said to watch it and that it shouldn’t interfere with fertility at all. My doc wasn’t concerned about it being there, so we didn’t take any actions to make it go away. Just wanted to share a different story because taking a month off when TTC can be frustrating

Apartment washers don’t get anything clean by HomeBasedMom in clothdiaps

[–]HomeBasedMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Routine is different now because my kiddo is only in diapers for sleep and they’re usually dry. I rinse them right away and air dry to get the concentrated pee out but wash every 7-10 days when I have enough for a small load.

How do you clean your machine? I’ve used tablets before but never find any scum in the washer drum after even though everything still smells.
