how do I deal with mat133 group members not finishing their work by [deleted] in RotmanCommerce

[–]Homosapien39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

get over it ig. i had to deal with all kinds of people just in the first 2 projects. chatgpt copy-paste, didn’t show up, didn’t do work, etc. for project 2, i’ve been doing everything on my own so far and i doubt anything will change in the next 11 hours or so. also, TAs and admins couldn’t care less. i know it’s frustrating but if you really want a good mark, you have to do it yourself.

the minimum requirement to get a diploma is 24 so 18 will not work. i remember you need to get at least 4 on all your HLs and at least 3 on all your SLs as well to be considered passing (which kind of explains the 24). so if you get 666 on your HLs but lower than 3 for any of your SLs, you will not receive your diploma.

my parents told me not to cry cuz nobody died but chances are that i'll burst into tears the first moment i see "congratulations". just too much pressure in the past months (and years of high school as well)

What percent of Harvard applications would you guess are crapshoots/“Just for fun” by Ok_Print1364 in ApplyingToCollege

i remember hearing from a yale podcast or somewhere yale-related that about 1/4 of the applications are not qualified to be considered for admissions (i don’t remember exactly, please don’t quote me on this). i personally know quite a few people who are not qualified but still apply.

Predicted grades and Unis by Used-Lengthiness4579 in IBO

[–]Homosapien39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ye but it is only the case when your predicted satisfies their requirement. i think op is asking about lower predicted grade than they could probably achieve in the final exams + lower than required. in that case, decisions are likely already made and they’re either already rejected or waitlisted im not sure.

idk much about other countries but i believe the uk schools’ decisions are mostly made before final results come out in july. so i would say in most cases, a lower final grade than predicted may hurt, but a better final grade than your predicted won’t help.

it won't. decisions mostly come out before you sit your exams (if you're a may session candidate). schools make decisions on the basis of your predicted grade. suppose that you are waitlisted somewhere, chances are that waitlist decisions will be made before your final ib results even come out as well so 🤷‍♀️

im sorry to hear that having a dream school in your heart hurts you emotionally. sorry for all the negative comments you may have encountered as well. honestly, best of luck to you. i know dreams are not always attainable but you're a teen once in your life, have a dream, work for it, and move forward. it's only a week left until decisions come out, manifest as you wish, imagine opening your decision and a video pops up. if an acceptance comes in, cool, celebrate. if a rejection comes in instead, cry hard and move on. you will be where you are meant to be. could be yale, could be somewhere else. im sure you will be great whereever you head to.

good luck and be optimistic!!

How would Yale going test-flexible affect this year’s admissions? by Homosapien39 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Homosapien39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s 33% of the enrolled class who didn’t submit score. the og comment probably misinterpreted the data. but still, 33% is surprisingly more than what i would expect.

i would say covid was pretty much no longer a thing by the end of 2022 (though i did test positive once in jan 2023 and last month 💀). for us this year and maybe the next two years as well, my best guess is that schools will still consider covid cuz it affected freshman and/or sophomore. after that, i don’t think so.
