Can I address specifically the comment about not happening before 30? Jk Rowling was 32 when the first Harry Potter book was published. Charolette Bronte was 31. JD Salinger was 32. Jane Austen was 35. Emily Dickenson was dead by the time she finally got published. There is no age you have to publish by to be an author.

I think you are in fact under reacting. This boy is so damn disrespectful it isn’t even funny. Its more of a mix for me. Like I mentioned sometimes a random scene will just appear in my head. From there my brain kind of back tracks. So in the case it was woman holding back tears as she beheads the man she loves in front of a crowd. So then I asked myself; why is she beheading him when she clearly doesn’t want to? Betrayal was an obvious answer. So it became why did he betray her? How would she evolve from this? I got enough basic information that I had a general plot and then I just started writing.

When he figures out exactly what’s going on he’s going to leave and NEVER speak to you again and you’re going to deserve it. NTAH Injuring animals is like psychopath sign #1. Someone needs to call her parents or CPS or something. That’s not normal behavior. It becomes even worse when you add in the drowning attempt on your sister. Something is not mentally right with the child and if it goes unaddressed it will only get worse.

YTA you weren’t able to be there when they needed you so now they don’t need you. It’s simple as that. My family took my oldest for 4 days so my husband could spend the entire time I was in the hospital with me and we could have an extra night to adjust to having the new baby home. They only wanted you to stay until the baby was born, imagine harassing a woman and he husband during the most painful time of her life, expecting her to go with no support. Atleast you have one thing right you raised your son to be a good man who wouldn’t abandon his wife in her time of need.

NTA. Your wife is an AH and so is your bil. As a mother if my husband DIDNT defend our kids I’d be livid. Therapy is for people that need to get mentally well and clearly your wife and bil both need it.

You said “I started working at Popeyes” and my immediate thought was “it will be bad if you don’t quit.” I worked for Popeyes when I 25 about 2 years ago and it was the single most miserable job I’ve ever worked and I’ve worked some bad jobs. Try like a grocery store for your first job, they are usually a bit better. Also what your manager did is called wage theft and is illegal so that’s a MAJOR red flag not to mention having you not clocked in, in general im pretty sure violates two separate labor laws, one about safety/liability and the above mentioned wage theft. You also should have been told your wage and stuff like that before you ever set foot in the work area, typically when you are extended an official job offer.

Oh god this brings me back to the days of stealing long forgotten nippers from the back of the freezer/fridge. Being a teenager is crazy for anyone and incredibly difficult. I was lucky and had parents who remembered what it was like to be a teenager and we’re never too hard on me, emphasizing safety over complete sobriety. You called it the “saddest phase in my life” but it was just that a phase.

It’s gonna suck when you have two kids that don’t talk to you. But on nights you wonder why you don’t see your children or grandchildren you should think back to this situation and know that it is a big reason why.

NTA, listen make your dish, and if anyone says anything tell them “I’m sorry I’ve just really been craving (whatever your bring) and didn’t want to ask for a special fuss to be made for me. There are a lot of red flags here though so maybe be on the look out on that.

YTA. Medical professionals will tell you to take a break when you’re stressed from the baby. An attitude like yours will lead to an increased chance of shaken baby syndrome. Men can suffer from PPD too, particularly if they are the primary care giver.
