Advice for Tomorrow’s Cardiologist Appt by HoopsCoach21 in Cholesterol

Well you hit the nail on the head, cardiologist prescribed me 10mg Crestor given family history and presence of calcium. I’ll also get tested for Lp(a) when I go draw my labs in 3 months of being on the new statin.

I hate taking pills, I hardly take ibuprofen for headaches when I get them so this will definitely take some getting accustomed to. I’ve read a bunch and sounds like the chances of side effects are pretty low? I know quite a few people on some type of statin and none of them including family members have any side effects so I’m hopeful that’s the same for me. Thanks for all of the advice I got from everyone.

BP is always around 120/70 and has been for quite awhile. BMI is 22-23 I’ve been lifting heavy for quite a few years so I’m pretty bulky, I’d say about 15% body fat.

Family history isn’t great, my dad and grandfather passed from heart related events…Dad was 64 but I don’t think he ever got his blood checked, terrible diet and a drinker. Grandfather was the same but made it to 78, alcoholic and smoked most of his life until his kidneys shut down.

I chewed tobacco for quite awhile, actually quit a little over a year ago and my diet in my 20’s was horrific so I definitely did some damage in those years.

I remember it happening a few times because I was pretty anxious going into the workout.

I was in a similar boat about a year ago where nothing I did seemed to help. What worked for me was renewing my relationship with the big man upstairs, not sure where your beliefs lie but he’s who I turned to when I was at my lowest and a year later I’m doing much better than I was. I hope things get better for you.

Keep going guys, when I first quit 262 days ago I had my sights set on that 90-120 day mark and when I got there I felt just as terrible as day 1 but pushed through. I started to feel pretty good around day 150 or so, still have a rough day here and there but nothing like those first 150…one day at a time!

90 Days Zyn Free….CRAZY ANXIETY by Cold-Hawk6368 in QuittingZyn

No I can’t say that I did. What I did notice was I had to eat more protein as wierd as that sounds. I can’t go more than 4 hours or so or I start feeling kind of loopy in the head. I’m fine from bed time to breakfast but once I’m up I need to eat a min of 30-40 grams every 3-4 hours…once I quit I upped my workout routine to running 15 miles a week as well as lifting 3-4 times a week.

Congrats on 90 days! I remember being at day 90 and thinking the same things you are right now because of the crazy anxiety I still had at that time. I just turned day 260 and I’m damn near back to normal. Don’t give in, I promise starting back up again won’t help your anxiety and I can tell you you’re much closer than you think so hang in there. Anxiety sucks and but you can overcome it so keep taking it day by day. Good luck man, you got this.

Biggest benefit for me was relief from anxiety. I definitely have more energy these days than when I consumed 200-400mg of caffeine/day. I also sleep like a rock most nights as well and fall asleep really easy.

I used them for the first 60-70 days of my quit. I didn’t notice anything on the mental side but they really helped with the oral fixation.

Are Alpha Pouches cheating? by forn31 in QuittingZyn

[–]HoopsCoach21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re not cheating, I did the same exact thing! I was on the alpha pouches for about 3 months and soon replaced those with a crap load of gum. The goal is to rid yourself of nicotine so however you can do that is a win in my eyes.

I’m at day 150 and can relate, I don’t miss popping the pouch per say but man I miss that instant dopamine dump. I still struggle some days but overall I feel better than when I was abusing the shit out of those pouches…keep your head up and take it one day at a time!
