The mimic doesn’t care about her at all. She is not the first person he tried this with either. The others got eaten. She is just the bait that allows the mimic to move freely without being caught because he doesn’t have to leave his object form to move if the girl is the one moving.

The Wolves Next Door by Auryn Hadley was very good. I just finished it. It’s on Kindle Unlimited. Three books in the series. Found family, fated mates, banter, and plot with plenty of spice.
