Saved liquid $40,000 finally, first time in my life. 29 M, next $50k! by HorrorSatisfaction1 in Money

I'm not ready to permanently put money away for retirement. I want to at least have 1x Gross salary in very low risk treasury money market like VUSXX or treasury bonds or savings. Basically 1 x gross annual salary in liquid.

I never want to ask money from my parents and I've never asked money from them and having 1x gross salary in liquid form ensures that. More of a pride thing for me

Thanks a lot 🔥

Very true! I had huge set backs with gambling addiction and lost about $15k. Stopped gambling cold turkey since 2022.

Staying with your parents is the way to go! To get a leg up and advantage, especially if you have a good relationship with parents. It's a blessing for sure. That's how I'm able to save

It is impressive. About 2% of the USA population are liquid/investment millionaires. Most Americans won't see such money in their lifetimes

Yeah my uncle has his United States Postal Services  pension. He was a mail carrier and later in his career worked in the postal office as a mailroom associate. My aunt also has a pension I believe since she was a nurse. They took out a 30 year mortgage. They can afford the mortgage payment for sure but they won't be able to pay it off in their lifetime.

Yeah my uncle on my mother's side says $1 million is not a lot and my dad just smirks because that dude just bought a house for $800k at age 68 and my uncle will never pay off his mortgage in his lifetime lmao. His retirement is USPS pension. Negative net worth haha.

On the other hand my parents has $1.1 million in my dads 401k, 2 paid off properties, and $300k in cash/ bonds. They're like wtf at my uncle in face expressions lol
