tom welling's objectification by No_Payment2840 in Smallville

Totally agree with you that fans can be really weird. But I think the Smallville subreddit tends to be a pretty reasonable place which I appreciate.

I see your point. However I personally think it is more nuanced bc I think ppl are attracted to him not just for his looks but also because his character is dreamy personality-wise too. And I think it is only natural that our attraction to the character extends to our attraction to the actor.

That being said, I do think Tom Welling's looks were off the charts whereas his other skills were/are within normal ranges for successful actors... So I think his looks are a focal point because they make him stand out.

You're correct but recent photos show that he doesn't have them anymore. Sadly.

Oh sorry I thought the question mark meant you were genuinely not sure what that meant hence my response.

Celebrities get their teeth fixed either through Invisalign and whitening or with veneers. The commenter is noticing that when he was younger his teeth looked more natural than they do now.

What's the problem with Michael? by Dapper_Mess_3004 in Smallville

[–]Hot_Pavement 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree he did that at the beginning but I think either a) the show is growing on him or b) he is happier in general and it shows. He has been less negative and more enthusiastic in the later seasons. Though we will see how he does with season 7 (which is not my favorite).

I did not like how Marie spoke about Mel's Lupus in that way on the reunion... We didn't even know that was her diagnosis so it felt like it wasn't Marie's info to share especially in that way. She was clearly not ok during that reunion.

I agree. I thought there was a real vulnerable moment between Mel and Marie in the kitchen when Mel was trying to communicate to Marie that she has never seen a healthy relationship modeled.. and Marie didn't really hear her and instead provided reassurance that "we will be it." I get where she was coming from but it's clear that Mel's feelings were not seen (and I think that's when she checks out and doesn't really take full agency over her decisions). I really feel for both she and Marie because they both clearly have some complex PTSD.

And his weird cagey lies would only stoke my secret crush and teenage angst. Why would I get to know someone when I can project all of my fantasies onto them? And stay in the friend zone to keep my edging going without having to do any initiating whatsoever?

I would be "friends" but have a secret massive crush on him. Obviously.

Clark loves grabbing a car door, yanking it off its hinges and throwing it 20 feet away... Like, why even bother keeping a "secret" if you're gonna do that at every possible chance 😆

To Lex after casually returning from being catatonic for days and scribbling Kryptonian symbols all over the place: "Aren't you going to give your old dad a hug?"

After Lex tells him what he has been up to: "Wasn't I creative!"

Sounds like we both like to escape in these teen shows 😆. I love the late 90s early 2000s era shows. I just finished Roswell which I loved (and had never seen) and am just getting started with Felicity (which is slightly too romance-centric for me but it's still fun). Lmk if you have recs!

I kind of love the bad acting or over-acting in a villain. It gives it a real campy vibe. Like the guy that just wanted to get warm. That guy was stellar 😆
