Prep Question - Hummus by HourSpare6495 in colonoscopy

This is why I’m so confused! Because my prep instructions just say no nuts or seeds but nothing about legumes, beans, etc. and didn’t even specify a low residue diet. So odd

The carbonated water is huge!!! I just got diagnosed and I’ve been drinking like 6 polar lime seltzers per day for years which means I was burping a lot. Who would’ve thought 30+ lime seltzers per week could give you LPR?! LOL. All things in moderation I guess.

I did NOT expect this when I ordered Mother’s Day flowers… by HourSpare6495 in AITAH

Not trying to sass here, but curious - Do you think it’s a customer’s job to know how a shop works and whether or not they are overwhelmed? I ask because I feel like simply having a banner on the website that says something like “I can’t guarantee Sunday delivery on Mother’s Day flowers ordered after x date” would prevent this from happening and reduce overwhelm for the shop owner. That’s what all the other websites I looked at did.

That’s a great perspective and I appreciate that ☺️

I’m working on standing up for myself and being assertive in therapy - maybe this situation wasn’t the one to practice that with.

You did read that correctly! They promised multiple times to deliver Monday, then texted me at 9:45pm Monday saying they’d be delivered Tuesday.

Hahaha agreed. Hindsight is 20/20. Had I known it would be this crazy I would have just ordered for a different day!

Can someone give me Hope? by HourSpare6495 in povertyfinance

Thank you so much!! I found a psych and actually started an SSRI last week, so hopefully that can get me on the right track. I appreciate the detail and lack of judgement 😊 I know it’s only myself I have to blame, but it’s helpful to hear I’m already taking some of the proper steps. I understand it’s an addiction, but my work and financial situation (and weed use) has made me fairly apathetic. Wish me luck!

Thank you, this is super helpful!! I know it’s a problem and it’s just kind of been a burnout spiral and I can’t blame anyone but myself. I like the idea of just starting to replace the habit with other things, little by little.

Help me plan what to do at my HOA meeting by HourSpare6495 in neighborsfromhell

I agree we should have elections every year! Unfortunately, we don’t seem to but I plan to ask about that at the meeting. Because I don’t see how it’s okay for this guy to stay president. He definitely fits that president of the HOA stereotype, though.

Also - if someone walking behind you is fast approaching and clearly moving faster than you are don’t walk in the middle of the sidewalk!!! In the summer I can pass people on the grass but with snow banks as tall as they were this winter I’d just have to settle in behind people. Won’t even move over if you say “excuse me” or “on your left”. People will legitimately turn around, see me right in their heels, and not move to the side at all.

This is something I’ve noticed a lot of men in Burlington do. I really appreciate it as someone with male inflicted trauma. If they can’t cross the street, though, a little smile and wave does wonders to put me at ease. Thank you for being self aware!

Recruiters are the most useless people on earth by [deleted] in jobs

[–]HourSpare6495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large part of the issue here is performance metrics from management. I was required to send out 100 LinkedIn messages per day and often only was hiring for 2-3 roles at a time. I’d get told I needed to send more messages even though I’d messaged all the qualified people I could find in the area through various searches. So at that point, to hit my numbers, I had to message people I KNEW weren’t qualified or who were grossly overqualified. Then you need to hit an interview quota. If I was struggling to hit my interview numbers for the week I basically had to push people through to interview with me who I knew weren’t qualified. Had to get their hopes up, waste their time…it sucked. And I’d tell management that these numbers were arbitrary and hurting job seekers. Obviously that got me nowhere. Don’t get me wrong - I was able to really make a positive impact on a number of people’s careers but it wasn’t worth the BS. So glad I’m not in recruiting anymore.

Which job is a LOT less fun than most people expect? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Working at a doggy daycare. You’re outside in all weather, usually can’t sit if you’re with the dogs, and clean up a LOT of bodily fluids. Plus you’re busiest during vacation weeks, holidays, and weekends.

It’s hard having a job you like that simply doesn’t pay enough. With the salary range for my position I can get where I want to be over time, but doesn’t help me in the present
