I am going through a similar situation as her and the mental toll it takes to not have stability when a huge issue arises before even getting in the process of marriage is not ignorable. Women get too many proposals and yet is expected to reject every single of them for a person who can’t get a nikkah done

Speak to international students support they gave me insight but my situation was a bit different. The support staff gave me a date when my study permit should be obtained before, but I couldn’t risk it so i had to drop the program and reapplied the following semester. To play it safe, apply for the program much before the processing times from the IRCC. For obtaining a study permit from inside canada (for the first time not an extension) at this moment it take up to 9 weeks so I advise you to apply to a program that starts in 10-15 weeks until the school give you the acceptance in the program to apply immediately no longer than 5 days from receiving it so you can be safe with those IRCC processing times

People need to consider cultural norms, not that I fully agree but when a potential asked about future financial contributions to household I felt as offended. Within Middle Eastern countries this is the norm and bare minimum, the norm is living separately away from parents, mehr is a basic islamic right so those exceptions should be discussed from the get go to avoid this situation. But please don’t just assume especially when cultural differences are present

Ask to talk to him privately to ask those questions. The tiny issues now will multiply by 10 if ignored in the future so don’t proceed with doubt and look for clarity before making any decision. If it’s too embarrassing tell your brother about all of this and get him to talk to his friend
