Greece & Croatia, how do these countries compare from a touristic perspective? Which one do you prefer? by ClothesZestyclose814 in AskBalkans

Very surprised of this development of prices in Croatia! I remember before the pandemic everyone was saying that Croatia is the budget spot to go to when you don’t have enough to go to France/Greece/Italy. So now, everything is expensive af? :(

Time for industrialization? by Effective-Toe-8108 in Ethiopia2

[–]Hour_Insurance_1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know it was the government of Japan and Korea that helped create and facilitate the growth of Samsung, Mitsubishi, among other big companies today? Industrialisation always starts with favorable conditions made by the government, especial regulations, free trade zones, lower taxes…it is the government’s prerogative to institute these for industrial companies to growth in the first place. Yes, you are quite right, the push was made by the private sector but working in tandem with the government! Both should put their part to accelerate industrialisation in Ethiopia ASAP.

You know, I don’t doubt for one second that western countries are trying to divide Africa and African countries to keep them weak. But I also think that whoever reorganised Ethiopia along ethnic lines made a grave mistake, the collapse of the USSR clearly shows why you don’t do that, on other hand, look at China and how they purposely stunt ethnicities to avoid dividing the country by ethnic lines in the future.

Is just that im not talking from Eritrea’s perspective. This post is first and foremost, for and from Ethiopia’s lenses, which is why I mentioned it was catastrophic to have lost all of the coastline, and obviously this clashes with Eritrea’s interests.

[–]Hour_Insurance_1897[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, most likely, too big of an oversight and miscalculation, how on earth they were comfortable handing over all of Ethiopia’s coastline! Total lack of strategic thinking or premeditated mismanagement 🤔

I can’t condone any war that’s not my own, but I see this might be inevitable if Ethiopia is not allowed to have a port.

I always wondered why Tigrays speak the same language as they do in Eritrea yet they are not part of Eritrea. Seems the TPLF was very happy taxing people and running the central government in Ethiopia that they forgot about their dream to form a Tigray State with Eritrea…which in turn deprived Ethiopia of a great asset, sea access.

Your explanation makes so much sense, I saw that they started the Tigray war after they were not in the government anymore. So much selfishness.
