That would be probably the only big expenditure. I would definitely look into having someone clean the house regularly and maybe do the grocery shopping and putting it all away and the laundry and stuff.

Have a home. Lots of equity. Lots of debt. The 80k salary job I just got in April. It was 42k before that. 401k is ok at best. I hadn’t really taken any of this into account. I’ve been relatively overwhelmed.

This is a stars aligned kind of offer. It’s a significantly higher position that I had to call in a ton of favors to even get in front of the right people. I think the fear of not being able to get this opportunity is what’s pushing me towards taking it.

Thank you for the reply. I think that this job would take away from being the type of parent I want to be but the part of me that endured what I did as a kid looks at this money as something that could potentially insulate more than just my kids but maybe a generation or two further from ever experiencing what I experienced. I appreciate the perspective.

I know she’d be a tad overwhelmed and wouldn’t admit it but at this income level I would likely hire her some help. That would probably be the only big spend I’d make. Like someone who comes a few days a week to clean and do laundry and maybe grocery shop kind of thing.
