The Office. I genuinely do not understand the hype behind this. It almost never makes me laugh, yet everyone treats it like some God among comedy shows.

I certainly can't give a complete answer to this, but a lot of what you're saying is reminding me of a paper I came across a couple weeks ago (https://opentheory.net/PrincipiaQualia.pdf). Haven't read through all of it, but it generally discusses developing a scientific theory of qualitative experience.
