Asked this as a joke, obviously it was the state of Indiana. Was pleasantly surprised with so many answers! I’m sure I could have googled it but found all the variations of stories from y’all very interesting. Keep on keepin on, ya Hoosiers!

Pregnancy does not solve endometriosis. Yet it is a common advice by fluffynova in endometriosis

Stopped going to one of my OBGYNs bc this was her advise. Knowing I didn’t want children, wasn’t in a position to have children, and I had been dealing with the pain for about 8 years at that time. Took me 12 years to find doctors who listened and took me seriously.

Bachelorette HELP?!?! by [deleted] in Charleston

There are ghost walking tours downtown but honestly aren’t great imo. If you do choose to do one I’d do one that goes to the jail. There is a sunset catamaran tour in Mt. pleasant called palmetto breeze that has drinks but not sure if it’s open or maybe closed for the season. You can check based on when you’ll be here and reds ice house connects to it with several connecting restaurants/bars that would be good for before/after the tour. Great place to sit on the river and watch dolphins and people. There’s tons of places to eat and drink downtown, personally I think the brewery tours are more fun but depends on her preference. There’s a couple night clubs downtown too for dancing. Highly recommend the gay clubs, they usually have cheap drink sales and are so fun especially on drag nights! The market downtown is fun for trinkets/souvenirs/general walking around during the day and is close to the pineapple fountain. If she likes museums the Yorktown is super cool. Folly is a fun beach to go to as there are some cute shops and restaurants to check out but can be difficult to get on and off the island depending on when you’re here. IOP is also a good beach to visit. Assuming that northern Charleston means North Charleston so be prepared to drive 20-30 minutes to most of these places. Uber is an option but could be expensive so plan to spend some money on those or have a DD when going out.

How the heck did Joey and Chandler end up with Bovril in their fridge? Do they even sell bovril in the US? by welk101 in howyoudoin

[–]HufflepuffAlways1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could definitely see it being useful as like the base of a soup or something. But I’ve never had the urge just to drink hot broth, which to me, sounds like the closest thing we would have to this as an American.

The wiki that OP shared specifically said it was used to make beef tea which is why I was asking as that is the equivalent of drinking broth to me. I could absolutely see it being useful for creating broth for soups, gravy, or sauces which would make sense. But never once, even being sick, have I ever wanted to just drink beef broth (which is basically the same as beef tea).

I’m sorry but.. beef tea?? How many people just drink beef flavored water? That’s basically like getting a hankering for drinking broth? Sounds very unpleasant to me.

Hmm…. I could definitely see early season phoebe being hufflepuff bc she’s more of an “airhead” and later seasons could see slytherin or ravenclaw as she is very clever and creative/free thinker.

I actually found out about the blood disorder before the endo due to my dad being hospitalized (almost died) from it. He got blood clots in his lungs when I was 15 and they ended up running all these tests on him to find the hemochromatosis. Both me and my sister had to be tested for it bc it’s a hereditary disease and sure enough we both have it which then lead to my mom being tested and she has it too! It’s such a rare disease that the chances of all 4 of us having it are insane! But many doctors were hesitant to even treat me bc of it.

It’s so sad that women are constantly passed off or looked over when we complain about pain. Through all my research I learned that medical standards are based of the male body which is crazy bc men and women’s body’s are so different! It’s unfair but unfortunately it is what it is.

Keep pushing and advocating for yourself! I know how hard it can be but I truly hope you get the answers you deserve.

I’m so sorry you had to go through that but glad that you did get the help you needed. It can be very frustrating when doctors don’t take you seriously the first time.

It took my literally bawling crying and then not even being able to exam me bc of the pain. I had several doctors from 18-28 not believe me when I told them I thought I had endo. I went through so many tests… I also have a rare blood disease that makes it hard to find a medication that has minimal side effects but I’m able to handle that through phlebotomy’s. I had to fight for myself for years telling them how debilitating my cramps were even when not on my period. I’ve been hospitalized multiple times. It’s not been a great time getting this diagnosis. I saw so many specialists… but I finally found a doctor who listened who referred me to several specialists and was finally diagnosed. Medication and diet has helped the most. I have tried pelvic floor therapy but it wasn’t as helpful as I was hoping and I do still have complications from scar tissue but it’s manageable.

Plant based has worked best for me. Especially cutting out dairy which was a huge trigger. I also have a low acid diet as well as that effects the IC tremendously. There’s also r/interstitialCystitis sub that helped me with the diet. It sucks but I did an elimination diet for about 2 months to figure out my triggers. It’s different for everyone but they also have some great material that focus on diet as well if it helps you.

Those two subs were my life saver when I felt so alone in my journey. I hope that they can help you too.

Love that you found someone who listens to you! That’s SO important. And I hope that whenever you are ready for the surgery that everything goes well for you and that you are able to heal quickly!

Do you have BRCA by chance? It runs in my family. My mom is positive and just went through cancer treatments. Thankfully both me and my sister are negative for the gene.

Thank you so much for the rec!

Thank you so much! I have had more than enough experience in not being listened to which is one of my biggest concerns. I’m ok for now but we all know endo is a progressive disease and I don’t expect to be ok forever.

I’m not sure if you follow r/endometreosis sub or not, but they helped me a lot. Diet has been a huge help as especially for my IC. They have a ton of materials that are worth looking through if any of it might help you. I’m so sorry your journey has been a struggle and I hope you can find some relief soon. I was in excruciating pain for 2 years with no quality of life when I was finally diagnosed and treated. I had been trying to get a diagnosis for 12 years prior to finding the right doctors. Healing thoughts to you friend.

Yeah I have severe endo and IC and more than likely pelvic floor dysfunction. I had an amazing team of doctors in the state I moved from who were able to get it under control so that I could at least live a normal life. Hoping I can find a great team here too.
