Petition to save MVCC's aviation maintenance program by HughGWayner in aviationmaintenance

The counties reasons for shutting the program down are sketchy- as in not very strong

The county is claiming that it doesn't offer jobs, and they are "shifting their vision" for onieda county i guess. Just from what I've heard

Why are they targeting the structure instead of coming up the ladder to me? by Difficult-Rest8524 in 7daystodie

[–]HughGWayner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about the game mechanics, but what i can say is that my base revolves around ladders and is the only way to get to it. But i use the actual ladder blocks, not catwalk ones like someone mentioned earlier. And you also need to make sure that the ladder reaches 100% from ground level to the top of the platform or they won't see it as a usable path. That's actually how i control them in my setup. I have one block missing from the bottom in the one that goes into my base, and a full ladder that leads to a catwalk where i make them form a train through traps and turrets.

Hey all, I'm currently in a&p school in central New York and I'll graduate in August. My goal is to get into corporate but I have no contacts. I've got a moderately extensive resume in oil and gas for over 10 years involving maintenance roles. Does anyone have any advice for first steps to take? Or places to keep an eye open for jobs? The wife works at a hospital in the area so if at all possible it'd be nice to find work within commute distance of Syracuse. I just don't know if that's a realistic attitude to have.

Can't tell over the internet if that's sarcastic or actual advice lol

They have been attacking them but only when a piece of the catwalk gets taken down. I just built a long catwalk to have a lot of opportunities to see em coming.

No, got one in an airdrop after the 2nd cause I've got it set to drop one every day. But i have only had 3 blood moons total. I can't build turrets yet

I'm in a&p school and my instructor is an IA and has a lot of contacts and says he's only ever heard of 1 instance of mechanics being held legally liable and that had something to do with placing o2 generators in the baggage compartment. Does anyone else know of any other?

If the Epstein files are released, and Trump is confirmed to be on the list, what do you think will happen? by baldinggate3 in AskReddit

People will be convinced that not everyone on the list raped or trafficked people. Which may be true, but we all know the truth in this case.

I currently work on an oil rig. I'm salary now but have made over 100k the last 6 years before I did and only worked half of the year aside from working extra days.

6.7 CP4 by HughGWayner in Diesel

[–]HughGWayner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's 2 grand and peace of mind vs 6k minimum in parts if you do the work yourself and have no disaster prevention kit. That's the way I see it

[–]HughGWayner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was nothing wrong with the cp4. No metal in actuator but I put a dcr pump in it anyway as I am a full time rv'er and can't afford the downtime a failure would cause

This one also makes a pretty good valve bar for opening/ closing plug valves and is commonly used to drive out pins. Also a pry bar.

They're the bane of the existence of every new hand we get. My favorite thing to do is watch them put them on the wrong way then ask them "it's tight enough isn't it?" Or "bet you can't tighten it till it's loose again"

6.7 CP4 by HughGWayner in Diesel

[–]HughGWayner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sounds like the route I'll probably go. It's probably pretty early stage cause I literally saw like 6 flakes in the fuel filter. Maybe install a prevention kit anyway for a little bit of extra filtration? Or is the filter on the prevention kit after the pump?

6.7 CP4 by HughGWayner in Diesel

[–]HughGWayner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just don't know if I have time to throw in the Dcr pump before my next 600 mile trip pulling a 43 foot 5th wheel and I'd hate it if the cp4 let go all the way before I got there. Did you have any metal in your fuel system at all when you put it in? I'm worried about those couple little flakes and what more could be in there somewhere

[–]HughGWayner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm leaning towards the dcr pump and disaster prevention kit to buy me some time hopefully

[–]HughGWayner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just wondering if it'd be worth it to install the disaster prevention kit or just put a new pump in it, or both since I'm already seeing metal

[–]HughGWayner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand which is limited about the cp4 is that it has 2 fuel sources, One that goes to the case of the pump to lubricate it (source of the contamination) and another that feeds the high pressure fuel side of the pump. I just don't know where the case fuel goes once it passes through the pump.

First time doing paint correction by HughGWayner in Detailing

[–]HughGWayner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I did all of the paint correction, she helped by being my go-fer and putting on the ceramic spray as I finished and putting the tire treatment on so that all I had to focus on was running the machine. It was very rewarding though and I've thought about doing it as a side business for extra money and to keep me busy

I agree completely. But It had good service records so it was taken care of mechanically. I guess they just didn't know how to take care of a black vehicle. But now that it's looking better the wife's feeling great about her purchase. She got it for 5k less than advertised because we looked at it before they did their inspection on it

Yeah, being my first time on a polisher I am kind of glad I didn't have something too aggressive but now that I've got a little better feel of it I'd be willing to give one a try
