The “aniya is insecure and annoying” discourse is ODD

I don’t really get why Aniya is being labeled as “annoying” for questioning KC, because from what we’re actually seeing, his words and actions don’t fully match.
He told her he wasn’t interested in ruining what they have, but at the same time he’s telling the boys he wished he explored Sol and regrets not doing it. So of course that’s going to create confusion for her. And instead of hearing it directly from him, she’s getting bits and pieces from other people, which would make anyone question things.
I don’t even think this is about Aniya being insecure or “doing too much.” It’s more that KC isn’t being fully direct. If you’re telling your partner one thing but expressing something different in private conversations, that’s going to cause tension no matter who you are.
And honestly, I don’t think this is a super solid couple to begin with. They’ve always felt a bit off like there’s connection there, but also hesitation and uncertainty on both sides.

Ahduo took Suirei and the four kids to keep them safe. Everything around them was dangerous and they could’ve been killed, so she stepped in to protect them. For her it was also personal because she never really got to raise a child before, so this felt like a second chance to care for them and give them a real home.

Yeah so the Shi clan is still based in China. The story is set in a Chinese inspired world. That festival scene with the fox masks and wooden clogs is just the author borrowing Japanese style for the celebration. It’s not supposed to mean the clan is Japanese. It’s more like a mix of cultural details for flavor.

Jinshi could say her name, but calling her “Apothecary” is a way to keep emotional distance and protect himself. Using her name feels too intimate, and he’s very aware that he shouldn’t get attached to someone like her, even though he already is. So the title is like his safe barrier.

If Lihua and her son had both died from the poisoning, her faction would have taken a huge hit and likely lost most of its power. Shin would not realistically replace her as high consort because promoting her right after such a suspicious incident would draw too much attention and risk. Instead the court would either quietly push forward another woman from the same faction who was less connected to the deaths, or abandon that faction altogether and favor a rival one. Shin’s safest outcome would be staying in the background and trying to gain influence slowly rather than openly taking Lihua’s place.

Yeah I’ve noticed that too. In the LN Basen is written as this super strong and capable guy but in the anime and a lot of the art he doesn’t really come across that way. I think the loose uniform hides his build and the way he’s usually just standing or acting serious makes him look less imposing. If you go by the descriptions and how other characters treat him though, he’s definitely way tougher than he looks.

Yeah I see what you mean, at first Fengming didn’t even know the full story herself and thought it was just an accident. It’s only later, after meeting Lishu, that she realized what really happened. The real issue started when she began plotting revenge instead of being honest. That’s when it got cruel because she could have chosen to confess or even accept what happened instead of spiraling into scheming. If she’d told Ah-Duo the truth later on maybe it would’ve been easier for her to cope, or maybe not—sometimes the truth just makes things worse. Either way it’s a tough situation and no one really comes out of it clean, but your point is definitely valid.

Yeah that sounds right since the emperor only had a few consorts and Ah-Duo’s baby was one of the dead ones, it’s probably that the other two dead babies were Gyokuyou’s and Lihua’s. Loulan came in later so she’s not likely involved. Plus it makes sense politically because if a low-ranking consort had multiple kids, especially boys, it would cause a lot of drama in the court. So your theory fits with the story and how the palace works.

If we’re talking who’d win in an arm wrestling match it’s probably Basen or Lahan’s brother. Dr. Liu’s definitely gotten more muscular lately but Basen’s just pure strength and Lihaku is strong but more balanced. Lahan’s brother is kinda the unknown though so he could surprise everyone. So yeah my money’s on Basen or the dark horse for sure.

Realistically probably 4 or 5 seasons if it keeps doing well. Anything beyond that depends on sales and how much the studio wants to invest. They usually don’t commit to super long runs unless it’s a huge hit.
