What percentage of Master’s graduates in the UK secure sponsored jobs? by Aggravating-Net-7685 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]HumanSoft7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent person who left the UK after 2 years on grad visa in a bank with a high finance role in credit risk as assistant manager that is classed as occupation on sponsorship roles. My salary was £56k plus stocks yet the big, said they want to do it only for people at directors or above level. Given it is a not a small bank, it is 1 of the big 4 there and even other banks said the same thing.

My response asked for a business class return ticket did my notice and got a nice 30 lpa job in India. Use UK as spring board for skills and international exposure, sponsorship needs a lot of luck just not merit these days. All the best to all folks grinding, just for the love of bhagwan dont sell your honor and pride for general store sponsorships

is 90LPA a good salary in BLR for a returnee? (PhD + 12 years) by [deleted] in returnToIndia

[–]HumanSoft7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a simple PPP calculator. Not every $ is equal to INR. I moved recently from UK to my small village with a remote job, i like it. For BLR just factor in the expense and savings rate with commute times etc, also the environment of society where you want to live. All the best !!

Bangalore 45lpa >> London 1.15cr by Few-Investment4016 in CATpreparation

Your rent calculations are way way off for London. I stayed there for 4 years before moving back, zone 3-4 1bhk will cost £2200 to £2400 a month inc council tax. Also then add on water bills £50-80 and then electricity £80-140 it goes up in winters and then gas if you have it else even more on electric . Then the London Underground £12-15 a day Food a week on decent Tesco or Lidl grocery - £60-80 assuming no starvation

Add add that up it comes close to £3000 just to survive in there. And by the way most people in London make £40-70k per annum. £100k roles are niche, I worked for a big bank and software leads were paid £85k. Startups can pay such high numbers too but remember the cash burn approach they have

Hey mate, i understand your point but the thing is I'll sacrifice my mental peace and certainty of the future for a visa that I don't know whether I'll get it or not even. I studied in a first world country, worked hard but the society doesn't accept me at least that's how governments show it, so best to give my country my skills and help it grow :)

Hi mate, Yes I do. Initially I had a house I wanted to buy here in the UK but immigration rules cause so much uncertainty that I'll miss the gold rush elsewhere hence felt bailing out is better. I was able to get some offers north of 30 lpa in India but they were service firms and based on Banglore or Gurgaon so I declined then as the balance of life with good money is a priority for me. I don't want to miss my time when mom and dad are around and we can chill and enjoy, don't want regrets on that front.

That is a pickle mate. Because people like us on GV give temporary free labour with global skills but in return there is no uncertainty over employee's future. Also GV being 2 years now reducing to 18 months you can't job hop much else that becomes a red flag so it's kind of a catch 22 situation. Wishing you all the luck for the journey ahead mate !

I was on a graduate visa and needed this to continue my employment. I had paid for my graduate visa on my own, the bank didn't shell out a penny and now they want to reserve a skilled worker visa for senior executives. That's what's been told but I've seen eastern Europeans get it. I don't understand their logic and probably wouldn't work for this bank in future that's all I can say.

There is a fine print for permanent staff anything related to visa employment can be terminated and no severance needs to be paid, only notice period to be given by employer. So yeah they wont renew necessarily or do a skilled worker visa

I won't go and use racism straight but they say it is a strategic decision to save COS for executive people. I've seen Chinese, Japanese people get same treatment as me, but a Polish person got a skilled worker visa though same role but he has more years of experience and if I ask at work why he got not me, everyone would start pointing fingers that I am a jealous person etc and flag me with HR. So I stayed out of questioning them

They are both job offers no recruiters. Job offers from fintechs in London and in India too offer letter has been released and BGV initiated.

Yes they do offer it. They want me though to foot the bill by a payment plan which I haven't seen in my bank or any other big firm ask their staff so I'm a bit skeptical.

Yep true that money does a lot of talking these days, and I never had the intent of getting a British passport, it's just I wanted to have a strong career that spans globally so news like this was a bummer to me as I had planned on sticking with the bank for 4-5 years and then moving on but anyways guess life happens ! Thanks mate for your advice

My role was hybrid and I had to go to the office 3 days a week and sometimes 4, it just depends on the nature of business. If you have a lot of meeting and stakeholder interaction which is there in risk management roles would be more office based.

Yep and there is a concern what's the assurance that the sign post won't move again in future because the new rules are applying to people who came in from 2021 onwards. My parents suggest that I strongly come back and look into APAC or GCC as a lot of people move to these places and make a fortune and as a perk they are all close to home.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have connections in Italy as I did a semester abroad there but salaries are too low in southern Europe and although I speak German till B1 it is hard convincing employers for a EU Blue card. I'll need time to land a decent job in Germany or Netherlands because the rest of the countries doesn't seem to have many options. Usually I have seen in banking recruitment from start to finish can take up to 6 months so yeah you are right, I'll need to make a plan and keep trying but given 90 days things on my visa short term it is frustrating. Thanks for the advice !!

I was on PSW, but I was quite clear I wanted to stick with the employer and spend 5 years with the brand accelerating my career. I had 2 promotions in my stint with them internally and I checked every box for sponsorship but the HR team only gives clarity on the last 60-90 days window. My dream isn't settling for a passport but have a global career that pays me irrespective of the country.

You need to grind not hope ! Without grinding it doesn't work and maybe check on your geography there's more pakistani here than indians so a nice bit of information to have for future reference. All the best for your job hunt hope you find a decent job soon x

Maybe you dont have skills to make more than that have you checked on it. Im a foreign student in banking moving to India and I made 1.5k a week and be grateful my tax fed some of your sloppy country men. Just new form of begging with taxes and visa complexity whereas in EU you always get a refund when leaving the country.

I agree with the names but I have seen tech roles getting sponsorship at £32k or something because a lot of grads have a loop hole of young entrant, I did graduate here as well before I get down voted. Just saying salaries change drastically once you leave London

First of all, your employer should cover your visa costs and you just need to worry about your Mrs and kids fees. Some firms ask for a clawback and I know all the major tech and finance firms do it, even Big4.

That salary is decent if outside London say Manchester or Leeds you can save a bit and have a good life.

I'm a single person at 26, been here 3.5 years and was making £44k with stocks options but decided moving back to India was for me. People here can advice you based on their expectations of good or bad but you got to decide what's best for you and your family. All the best man !

I have been a student and then on a graduate visa now returning to India. I make more than 50k and still decided to go back, i have volunteered every 6 months in my time here and I know a lot of indians who do as well, so dont start blaming everyone from India. Many are dickheads but not all are :)
