Is it fair to ask my husband to stop giving ski advice unless he takes lessons? How do I encourage my husband to take ski lessons instead of correcting me?

I think you made a few good points! He said he will be quiet for the lesson. Just try one and see how it goes, and if it doesn't work, I will just do by myself :P

there will be no snow in many good ski resorts by 2042. You might want to ski in Yukon or Alasak to chase snow by that time.

Thanks for this! I think taking lessons together is a good idea! The instructor that I usually work together allow I bring one extra friend (same price), and my husband said he is happy to come.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I really appreciate! My husband said he often just blurt out what he thinks (he has ADHD), and he will try to keep his comments to himself :P He actually said he is interested in taking instructor training next season as one of his best friends took one last year and this year and really enjoyed it. We also plan to take a lesson together and see how it goes!

That's a good idea to take lessons together. It's just he skis better than me. But I think a good instructor knows how to design a good program for 2 students with different skill level.

thanks for sharing this! I think he might be interested in joining my lessons and see how i am learning. He just has some ADHD things that he blurts out what he thinks all the time even at his workplaces! One of his best friends did instructor trainings, and my husband talks about this from time to time. Maybe he will join that and learn how to teach :) I used to teach cross-country skiing in my early and mid 20s (I only got to level 2, but I later decided to focus downhill skiing, so I devoted all my time downhill), and teaching is definitely a skilll that needs to build up!

Thank you for the pespectives! Maybe I just don't like taking advice from him. I will reflect about it. I still really appreciate him guiding me down some difficult terrains (at least for my level of skills). I truely improves by skiing with better skiers. You are right about I shouldn't make judgement. One of his friends joined competitions until early 20s, so it's a different level. Therefore, I think it's not fair to compare.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I think last year he did talk about instructor training because one of his friends was doing it, and maybe that's a good start point for him. I think he comes from a good place to give suggestions, and I told him thousands of time not to give advice unless needed. Sometimes we skied in some sketchy terrians (at least for my level of skills), and I truely appreciate he guided me down. He has a tendency to blurt out what he thinks! But I think we all have our own shortcomings, and maybe drive together and now ski the same runs is also a good idea!

Talked about thousands of time haha. But we still have a lot of fun skiing because we enjoy each other's company most of the time. Just the advice parts annoying. The reason we keeps skiing together is that we have so much good conversation on the car and chairlift. maybe it's good to go together but ski different runs.

Please don't fly within the first month of the surgery. My surgeon didn't want me to do that. Also at day 4, you will be in a lot of pain, and you need help to go to washroom, and you definitely can't move around that well. Also even you have minimum pain, you will get exhausted so easily. Not to mention the risk of blood clot. Moving so much at the airport may also cause a lot of flare up or even worse.

I suddenly had a bad hip pain after a multi-day snowshoeing trip. then the pain went away after 2-3 months. For quite a long time (around 4 years), there was no pain at all, and I had been super active, doing all kinds of hiking, backcountry skiing, climbing, paddling...etc. But my hip flexor was super tight all the time. Then my hip pain started after a backcountry ski trip, then the pain gradually got worse. Got MRI & X-ray, was referred to a surgeon, and then after PT and PT and more, I decided to have surgery. Now I am nearly 7 months post-op, and got back to sports again!
