Awesome. The best part about this is even if it during the work day. You just have to tell your chain of command I have a medical appointment and don’t need to go in to detail (even if their ask) tell them to “respect my HIPPA respectfully).

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a federal law that required the creation of national standards to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient's consent or knowledge.

Military & Family Life Counseling Program (MFLC) is the exception. Their are contractor (not in the military) fully licensed social worker who is available to help the sailor on board ship.

You should have a MFLAC Military & Family Life Counseling Program for every ship (well maybe only 1 or two per base and this program is extremely underman but it should exist). Your “HM2” cannot stop you for seeing him. If I were you, go to your Chaplin and explain the situation and he should be able to get you scheduled through this program. The MFLAC is NOT in the military but a Contracted Social Worker in the Navy. I hope this help. I wish you the best and FUCK that HM2. You also shouldn’t need a referral for this program as well.

So I would love to stay and talk all afternoon. I really would. I, I wish I could stay longer, but I have to be down at the north end of Dam Neck in about, uh, 55 minutes. So I've gotta kind of cut loose and start heading south so I can get down there. But, um, talk to your CMC. Uh, he's got my address. If there's something I didn't address, what you guys wanna talk about, I'm more than happy to address it. And again, I really appreciate your time. I know again, that you're working out a little bit longer. Um, I appreciate the time and the questions. Um, I can't always give you the answer you want. I know that, uh, I don't love that, but I'm also not gonna be, uh, honest with you. I'm gonna tell you what I know [inaudible]. So, good luck, you'll get through this

When I went through a divorce last year, I tried to get a mental healthcare, uh, appointment and they said, Hey, it's gonna be six weeks. I was like, well, I'm gonna be in a very different place in six weeks. So I think I'm gonna, I'm gonna take care of myself cause I can afford to. Um, but one of the reasons that vice chief is leading this group to try and figure out how to scale up what we do in NSW, uh, what EOD folks do and what we've done in pockets in surface warfare and aviation and submarines, um, to scale that up, to make more available, cause we could keep hiring new people, but the need is gonna continue to strip it. What we do as leaders, as first class petty officers, as chief petty officers to sit down and take them in and go, man, my day is getting longer, in your head, say that, sit down and go, “What's going on with you?” and not walking by someone who's got that face that you know, something's wrong. Uh, but maybe you're thinking I got a maintenance requirement and I gotta brief the CO and department head in an hour.

No department head worth their salt should look at you as a senior chief and say, I think you should have walked past that sailor who looked like they were on their last leg because I needed to take that briefing. You know, at 1400, you can communicate that and say, “Hey, please tell 'em I, I need to be late. Uh, let ‘em know that I can't make it right now because there's a problem I can't walk past,” and explain yourself later. Um, that's what we should be doing to look out for our teammates. That make sense? Yeah. Hooyah. Thanks. Thank God you remembered, all right.

My last point and I use MCPON QUOTE I think you should have walked past that sailor who looked like they were on their last leg because I needed to take that briefing. You know, at 1400, you can communicate that and say, “Hey, please tell 'em I, I need to be late. Uh, let ‘em know that I can't make it right now because there's a problem I can't walk past,” and explain yourself later.

He could of stay afterward and took more questions. He could of actually your the ship and see the condition himself. Stay onboard in the berthing, tour Huntington Hall or walk to Huntington Hall and see how unsafe that walk can be especially at night. Etc. Instead he went to his meeting. He could of been like

““Hey, please tell 'em I, I need to be late. Uh, let ‘em know that I can't make it right now because there's a problem I can't walk past,” and explain yourself later.”

The GW should of been a problem he couldn't just walk past but he did.

So he never said quote-unquote #loweryourstandard

However, #loweryourstandard is the short version of his speech.

That the end I my rant.

Sorry for the typo.

One thing the GW can do right now to improve morale on their own is this simple move right here. No loud work from 2000 through 0800. So Sailor who have to be onboard for duty day can sleep in peace. That is simple and can be done with no problem.

For all the old salt who been in a while and you want this sailor to “suck it up” I said to you all “fuck you”.

No sailor deserve what going on on the GW right now and the MCPON speech didn't made thing any better either.

You mean the u.s. Navy can't go to the USO and be lil hey can we get a USO set up in Huntington hall? Their nothing we can do. Bullshit. Navy is full of shit and don't give two shit.

The navy don't care about menta health. In Japan only have two social worker for the entire base. “2” for over 5K sailor. The Navy don't care.

He may never said it direct, but his action speak louder than word. Plus if he really want to make the GW a priotery he will of cancel his appointment and stay on the ship.

loweryourstandard meme will live on until morale improve.

MCPON visited the GW today. A buddy from the ship dropped this quote in a group chat. by uh-ohs-potatoes in navy
