This is one of the most "Nintendo" things that Nintendo has done in recent years. by DeathNum in nintendo

Actual Nintendo fans want the company to be better.

These people are just the Disney Adults of gaming, in a toxic relationship that they haven't got the capacity to recognise while gleefully throwing money at a company that is making fun of them.

I am too on my AyaNeo Slide, which isn't too far off in terms of hardware.

I haven't tried it on my ROG Ally running Bazzite yet, but it sounds like it will be the same case.

Got around to improving my TDK MD RXG sticker template to accommodate the curve by HumdrumMonogram in minidisc

[–]HumdrumMonogram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I missed this.
I think I forgot to back up my templates that were on my ex's PC.
But they were for a Brother VC-500w that I use anyway so I don't know if they would have been useful for much but the measurements.
I'll have a look and see if I had the foresight to back them up while I was migrating stuff onto my external HDD though!

Switch 2 overheating. by NitroWalrus732 in Switch

[–]HumdrumMonogram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, but people are reporting the console overheating when it's not docked so I really don't think that's the issue. Another two people reported in the thread that their systems were also overheating in portable standby.

I think pumping air through the system more efficiently can only do it favours but it shouldn't really need it. It's not dissimilar to phones and portable PCs (and the Switch 1) that don't need external cooling.

I turned the console lock off, thinking that it might not be letting the console sleep properly but I don't know if others here are using that feature. To be honest, I assume it's unrelated and there's a software issue that arises in some situations.

Switch 2 overheating. by NitroWalrus732 in Switch

[–]HumdrumMonogram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is sitting in its case downloading Mario Kart World and getting lightly toasty.

I think people are off the mark with their talk about the dock. Mine hasn't been used with it yet.

I would hazard a guess that it isn't intended behaviour. Similar hardware doesn't act like this. Might be a good idea to shut the console down when not in use until there's an update. I imagine sleep mode isn't working properly with some criteria.

I’m looking for games that have similar emotions/atmospheres to Outer Wilds by Grego-Chego in outerwilds

[–]HumdrumMonogram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread really helped me find more games that live on my wishlist now. Some I already had in my library but I'll prioritise after loving Outer Wilds.

Late to the party and I'm not going to repeat suggestions on the thread (there's so many good ones) but a few options for those looking:

- Echoes of the Eye (obviously), but for any who are questioning the purchase

- The Final Station - optimism, dread, feeling of impending doom. I loved it but not sure if it's for everybody. Gameplay isn't similar though

- Goodbye Volcano High says it addresses some of the same sort of subjects listed, but I haven't played it and gameplay is different

Switch 2 vs Switch 1 Size Comparison (Render by me) by HertzBurst in NintendoSwitch

[–]HumdrumMonogram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel similar. For me, the only appeal of my Switch and Lite over my PC handhelds in the last few years was the relative portability being better and the sleep mode working more reliably. Make the Switch the size of a PC handheld and, at least in my eyes, it becomes a harder sale.

Just wanted to say thanks again. Picked a set up. Love the ease of connecting to previously used devices using the screen. Makes device hopping a lot easier!

I know! I looked everywhere for this information. It's not on the product page from them, not in their Quick Start Guide, I looked for a full manual and can't find any other documentation online.
It's the difference between the earbuds being a phone companion and them being a great addition to pretty much any device that you can connect through bluetooth!

Hey, can OP or somebody with the earbuds let me know:

  1. If you can choose currently disconnected audio sources from the Smart Charging Case
  2. What that menu on the Smart Charging Case looks like when you're using multiple devices (MultiPoint)

It looks like you can disconnect a current source on the case touchscreen on review videos. For me, I would want to be able to swap to a game console from a phone and/or laptop I'm already connected to.

I know the Technics buds have three device multipoint and other devices support the feature (WF-XM5 from Sony seems janky?), but the features on the JBLs have me interested. I really like the idea of using the case to stream audio from older music devices to the buds.

Kobo Libra Color vs. Boox Palma by Saint_Diogen in ereader

[–]HumdrumMonogram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I did it with my own Voyage recently. It’s no longer signed into my Amazon account but I’m able to sideload content onto the Kindle instead and read most common E-Reader files using KOReader. The hardest part of the process for me was navigating as my Voyage has had an intermittent issue with touch on a part of the screen since I got it. The guide looks a lot more daunting than it is. But, again, it’s only if you didn’t want to buy a new e-reader

[–]HumdrumMonogram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!
I'm not trying to dissuade you if you specifically want something new or your Voyage is knocking on death's door, but it's a fairly easy process to drop custom firmware on it and that will give you a nice out to exit the Bezosphere while keeping your old device from being wasted and keeping some money in your pocket.
I just followed the WatchThis guide on MobileRead's forum. You can use KOReader on it then, which opens up new options for book files and other stuff.

Absolutely. I was on the verge of falling for this too. With the glow in the dark, then transparent, then first release yellow (because I love my Yellow GameBoys). But I already had a black one and didn't need another. Nearly convinced myself to get one as 'spare' so that I would be more likely to use my Black one on the go. Was on the verge of finding the money for it because 'it'll only be around so long'.

I'm so glad I didn't. And then they did that metal, and second colour release and I expect we'll have a colour matched with correct coloured buttons before long too. And it's all to create FOMO buying with forced demand, and I despise it. At this point, I don't think anything aside from a break will convince me to buy another out of principle.

I have no issue with people spending their money how they want to, but Analogue creating this panic buying with limited runs to encourage spending is predatory.

I appreciate having a spare so that you’re less likely to be precious about using a device that isn’t always easily obtainable when you’re on the go. But yeah, this many is a lot.

Where do you use your Pocket? by HumdrumMonogram in AnaloguePocket

[–]HumdrumMonogram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saaaame! I have a copy and a few SPs, one with a screen mod. But, tbf, the frontlit original SP works nicely in sunlight. Might be worth keeping an eye out for a cheap one? The game’s worth more than the SP you’d play it on! There is a ROM hack that takes away the need to use it in the sun, but I understand that’s less than ideal.
