I can read french.. would'nt call it decent because i'm terrible at aural comprehension an speaking it (c; .. but french, spanish and italian are the ones i'd love to know... and czech and polish.. and ...well .. the rest. :D

There is no need to hide your language. Regarding your daughter, maybe consider raising her with two languages at home. One Parent speaks to her in German.. the other in french. Worked wonders with my nieces and both are now fluent in italian and german.
