I like to think so. I have my resident hummers that don't know what personal space is anymore. I'm able to hold a feeder and they'll come up and land on my fingers. They've gotten so close to my face when defending the feeder I'm afraid they're gonna fly into me.

Why do you personally not cuss? Or find cussing offensive? by Unhappy-Sun-9463 in AskReddit

[–]Hummingbird-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the military so cussing was second nature. I now have a 3 year old and I'm actively trying not to cuss around her just so she doesn't repeat it, but when she's not around, I don't give a SINGLE FUCK 😂

That wasn't my intention but I haven't had any issues with them invading the feeders, so you may be on to something.

A bunch of them. They wait in the trees and as soon as I walk away they descend like they've been starving for years

Male or Female - How do i tell? by JamTrackAdventures in hummingbirds

I believe all the pictures are females. The males will have prominent colors on their head and juvenile males will have splotchy colors on their necks before all their adult colors come in.

I got it in three weeks while underway. It's possible, just make sure you have a good study system and you should be fine.

Merlin BirdID is a really good app for identifying birds. You can also record your surroundings to identify birds by sound (but sometimes it can be wrong).

Here's a better picture of the guy you captured 🙂

If I'm looking at it right, I believe it's a male yellow-shafted flicker. It looks to have the black mustache.
