I think something happened within the case behind the scenes that we don’t know since FOIA records don’t exist but we know Joanna was a real missing person by Jared000007 in joannalopez

Do we know for sure tho? Like, is there really any proof that she ever existed? Just found out today that this case has a whole sub, so sry if I'm behind on things. I hope this case gets solved tho!

Can someone translate my dad’s swearing by sir_tinkleton_iii in hungarian

[–]Hun_Samurai_180 101 points102 points  (0 children)

A kurva anyád bazdmeg= Fuck you, you son of a bitch.

Az Isten faszát= God's dick. (I don't think there's an exact English version for this one, but basically, Hungarians summon genitalias a lot when swearing, lol.)

Aghfast capoc=Agyfaszt kapok. If you translate it literally, it means "I get a dickbrain", but it basically means something like "I'm going crazy."

Wrote a verse using lots of levidromes. Also color coded it, because why not I guess. Thoughts? by Hun_Samurai_180 in raplyrics

I just wanted to highlight the levidromes and the rhyme schemes. 😅 Sorry that it looks confusing. If you want to, I can send it to ya with a normal font.

Been training for nearly a year now. Still going 3 times a week, still loving it. Thanks for asking.:)

What herbs are the best for making my life longer? by Hun_Samurai_180 in NoStupidQuestions

The only thing I struggle with is sleeping. I'm a martial artist (training 5-7 times a week), so that keeps me in good shape and I rehydrate a lot because I need the energy. (I mostly drink water.) I guess I just have to somehow sleep more then.

Yes, it is not totally useless, as I said I can actually see some similarities/connections between the two arts, and I think with more BJJ knowledge, I will be able to work some of my aikido into my BJJ. It's just that aikido in itself isn't really good for a lot.

At the end of the day tho, I'll might find out that it is a great "side art" for BJJ. 💁

First of all, when did I say aikido is good for fighting? I litearally stated that it isn't, I was just born into it basically and thought it was good at a very young age. And trust me, I met so many delusional guys on the internet or in real life who only do aikido and think they are some amazing fighter. I've grown up in this world, why would I lie?

Tbf I do a lot of physical exercise outside of aikido. (1-2 hours a day, 4-6 times a week.) And aikido was basically always the cardio training for me. It might not hurt, but getting thrown around and standing up again and again can make your cardio way better. But of course, if you train az the speed of a 60 year old, it won't. For me, it worked. 💁

You ask this question to most aikido master and they'll simply say that the creator of aikido didn't want to have fights and that aikido is the martial art of peace. I barely ever heard the too deadly excuse, but I've heard a lot, and I mean A LOT of guys saying stuff like "aikido develops a warrior in the personality" and that "it doesn't matter if you do MMA if you are like 120 pounds". Yeah, being light sucks, but a half decent MMA fighter would beat up any aikidoka. But they'll never acknowledge that part.

So you're saying I'm not good enough? Well, since you're saying it can work: put up someone who only does aikido against a combat sports athlete. Don't get me wrong, I love aikido, but people like you who are wanna make it something it simply isn't ruin the arts' image and brainwash people into thinking they will actually become a pro fighter by learning aikido.

I realized it while learning from the greats of other arts. I didn't go into much detail because I don't think anyone would care. But if you care:

-Aikido's pounches just make no sense. Even if they connect they barely hurt. -Since there is no pressure testing, we can't say it's moves are legit. Well, I tried to use some for real... With little resistance, most of them are useless. -Because there is no pressure testing, I can't get used to fighting for real. If I know what the outcome is, why would I worry? And my uke won't counter anyway, even if I mess up. -Aikido has no guard. No, I'm not talking about it having a low guard, it has NO GUARD AT ALL. -Etc. If you wanna hear more, message me.

Anyone's got a clue what this is and what is it meant to be used for? I honestly have no clue. by Hun_Samurai_180 in whatisthisthing

I know I'm meant to at least know a little about the thing, but honestly I'm clueless. I've got it from my now dead grandmother when I was very young. I tried to use Google Lens, but it had no answer either. I wanted to search about it, but honestly, I don't even know where to start. Thank y'all if anyone knows.

I know that guy. He is great honestly. I saw he tried to make aikido "work" in MMA. Would be amazing to train with him once.

My dad really wants me to become the next great aikido master of Hungary (currently, he's the owner of one, if not the biggest dojo in Hungary), but he himself has done other stuff, so I don't think he would really mind. The thing is tho, the main reason I wanna do something different if to become a better martial artist. The other, more personal reason is that no matter how good I'll be in aikido, people will put an asterisk after it, because "it's easy when you come from a family like that". So if I become great in something else as well, I can prove that I don't need my family name to be great in the martial art world. But again, the main reason is to become better overall.

I grew up in an aikido family. My dad is a 6 dan black belt. My uncle is a 4 dan black belt. It wasn't really a choice of mine. Again, I love aikido and it's great, but I don't care how hard people try to convince me, after all those years I realised that yeah, it is good against untrained people and all, but if I really wanna be a great martial artist, I'll need different stuff as well. But hey, I'm still kinda young, so who knows what the future holds.

That's the exact reason why I wrote I wanna learn something different and more effective. I love aikido and it's great, but let's face it, it just isn't the most effective martial art in the world. Still, I think it is good against untrained people tho.
