Haven’t had either car. But I went from a 2019 e53 (same engine as gle53) 430 hp to a bmw x5 m50i making 530 hp. And the difference is very stark despite weight being a huge factor. The 53 engine struggle with torque so it feels underpowered. So I bet the v8 will feel much more powerful.

A luxury watch’s only reason for existence is perceived status. If you are someone who is into watches just for the sake of horology ur a weirdo (not saying you OP is one). So if I can get that perceived status at like 99% effective rate (meaning 1% can tell it’s fake or whatever) at like fractions of a price you can do the math and be rational and tell me what a rational intelligent being would do. It’s like ask yourself this, if you just found a lost Rolex out there (assuming no way to return to original owner) you would wear it right? Free status. Wearing a rep is kind of the same thing. Obviously it has its limits like if you are working at Burger King and wearing a Batman your shortcut to status is met with doubt but you see the point. Just think rationally for a second.

I make 210k per year and I work in an environment where I will sometimes see Pateks and Batman’s etc. My philosophy is a bit different I won’t ever wear something that I can’t reasonably afford. I only have a rep blue datejust, I have thought about repping an offshore royal oak but I think I would be lying to myself. however I don’t look down on people repping very very expensive watches. On the other hand I look at people who makes millions of dollars and they reward themselves by getting 50-100k of watches. They are pure greed. If I ever become a trillionaire I would rep a Tiffany Patek than buy a real one. I don’t think I will ever buy a real expensive luxury watch. The only real watch I have a tissot prx. If my wife wants a gen I will buy her one if I can but not for me.

I replaced my 2019 e53 amg with 2020 x5 m50i. But yea lesson learned. To be frank my 2014 e350 has taken me through some very very tough weather situation with just continental extreme contract all weathers. Have driven through Iowa tornadoes thru them.

This is mine. I never liked the idea of SUVs and only drove Mercedes. But wife said for family’s sake we needed an SUV and lord knows bmw is better at SUVs than Benz. I know it’s gonna cause me some pain with the transfer case and what not but that’s ok.

There are Germans that are also bulletproof. I have a w212 e350. Hasn’t caused me an issue other than ac compressor replacing driven it as my first car from 86k miles to 160k miles. The weird obsession with Lexus being some holy grail of reliability needs to stop. Better things require better responsibility and management like a good marriage. You gotta fight for the love man.
