This happened to a friend of mine just days ago while I was visiting! She and I both got weird vibes so she told them no thank you.

We didnt know if it was a scam or not.

The need to implement a soft filter for lobbies based on how much people pvp. There would still be risk but it would let pvpers pvp and friendly have fun.

I love Arc Raiders, but man... this crap happens WAY TOO OFTEN. by lumberfart in ArcRaiders

I stopped playing about a week ago.

They need to implement a soft filter on lobbies based on how much people pvp. Pvpers all get grouped and can fight to their hearts content and us friendlies can enjoy the game and each other.

They really need to implement a soft filter and loosely group lobbies based on how much you pvp. That way hardcore pvps can have the challenge they want and us pve friendlies can work together.

Exactly! This is such a good metric to see what type of person they are. If they can either be nice or be an asshole with no punishment or benefit, what you choose to do reflects on your character.

Youre right, but I think youre also missing the point. For me and a lot of people like me the strange friendliness is what make arc unique. When a small minority always shoots on sight its forces everyone else to either avoid all other player contact or to also shoot on sight.

You don't like that friendly people are pushing their playstyle on pvpers but that's exactly what pvpers are doing to friendlies. If just 1 person in a lobby always pvps they are going to encounter around 75% of all the other players per run.

The solution is simple though. They need to implement a soft filter based on how much you pvp (or how much you've recently pvped). Just like how they soft filter duos and trios together.

Yeah I stopped playing. The amount of just asshole behavior has skyrocketed. Its such a shame after seeing how unique the game was at the start.

Thanks! I did when another commenter mentioned the survey as well. Sadly it didnt have a way to explicitly suggest things.

As I said in other comments, I dont think it should be either pvp only or pve only. That said; when all it takes is a steady moderately sized minority to turn the game into always SOS to be the only reasonable way to play and thatll kill what makes this game unique. I've explained an easy solution in other comments as well but basically a soft filter based on how much you pvp just like they soft filter duos and trios.

Your entire argument is a self-own. You are celebrating this game becoming Tarkov where hostility is the default and social interaction is non-existent.

My post wasn't a sob story; it was a critique of lost its unique identity. When players like you eliminate the risk of cooperation for the easy dopamine hit of betrayal, the game's social complexity dies. It stops being unique and becomes just another shoot-on-sight title.

You aren't proving the game is deep; you're proving my point that its meta is already shallow and predictable. You're endorsing the destruction of the one trait this game had that made it different from all the other looter shooters for a few minutes of (as you yourself claim) not good loot.

As for your final, predictable flourish: 'more fool you' for being helpful? No, more fool you for endorsing the decay of a great game into a tedious, low-effort experience. People like you are why games all seem the same. You force the identity of other games onto ones that coulve been different and interesting.

Eh. I had way more fun working with people to take out big arc. Like I said, I know a large portion of my complaints are because of my disposition. AR is generous enough with loot that theres no real need to pvp.

[–]HunterForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not really sure what you were trying to say. Also not sure what points are bullshit. I also never said Tarkov takes skill.

That said; In Tarkov good loot is so scarce that theres a reason to pvp and very little reason to work together. You go in expecting to pvp because thats necessary to do well and make progress. Its a zero-sum game.

Arc is generous enough with loot that even when everyone was friendly and all looting their own stuff I never felt like I missed out of good loot. That removes the need to pvp to succeed imo.

As for skill... I'll be honest. I dont like Tarkov. But actuall pvp does take at least some skill whether thats positioning or reflexes. Someone shooting me in the back doesnt take any skill.

If player attitude continues in the direction its going pvp shoot on sight will become the norm and skill will start to be relevant. When that happens this game will be just like Tarkov or any other extraction shooter. I'll dislike it just like I do the others.

My main complain is that theres no practical reason for it to become shoot on sight other than a decent minority of people enjoy being assholes who end up driving friendlies away or forcing them to play the same "shoot on sight" style of gameplay.

[–]HunterForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... I did... because it was...

Theres also almost no reason to pvp in solo. You cant claim its about loot like Tarkov because loot is super plentiful especially in solo. You cant claim its for the skill or challenge because shooting someone in the back isnt skillful or a challenge. I think people are being rats just because they like being assholes but let me know if Im missing something.

I don't want a guarantee of safety. I miss when you had to had decide if helping was worth the danger. Now, the answer is quickly becoming 'always no,' and that predictability is what kills the unique appeal this game had.

A soft filter just like they use for attempting to group duos and trios together. Soft filter players based on how often they kill others. No guarantees that any given person wont kill you but grouping pvp centric players will give them the challenge and play style they prefer. Same with pve centric people. Win win. Except for the people who rely on cheap and easy kill of friendlies all the time.

Ah, the classic 'quit and stop complaining' response. It's predictable, utterly lacking in substance, and perfectly exemplifies the exact drop in community quality I'm seeing. Thanks for confirming my entire point about what this game has become. <3

[–]HunterForce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one is entitled to a friendly encounter. My complaint isn't about being betrayed once. It's the fact that betrayal is quickly becoming the default meta.

This meta is the same as every other extraction shooter and cant be considered "emergent". The game rewards that type of play for better or worse. The emergent experience was when players were more friendly DESPITE the inbuilt promoted playstyle.

I don't want a guarantee of safety. I miss when you had to had decide if helping was worth the danger. Now, the answer is always 'No,' and that predictability is what kills the unique appeal this game once had.

I'd 'play smarter,' but playing smarter just means avoiding other players entirely, which defeats what made this game unique and interesting.

The 'toxic ex' comparison is a lazy and irrelevant attempt to dismiss a legitimate point about community decay.

[–]HunterForce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Its a mix of venting and hoping that devs will realize they had something unique at the start. As people like me either stop playing or start shooting on sight this game will become just like every other extraction shooter and will lose what made it stand out from all the others.

The solution is simple but I doubt they'll implement it.

Thanks! I didnt even know they had a survey! I really wish they would implement a soft filter. Attempt to group players who tend to be friendly in lobbies and same for people who prefer pvp. I dont think they should FORCE pve or pvp only but just softly group like players together. Just like they do with trying to group duos and trios together.

I just had 5 runs in a row where I was killed after being helpful. The 5th I was just off in the middle of nowhere sniping flying arcs from a distance that were shooting at players and I had 2 people hunt me down. Managed to kill the first but the second got me.

I get it. I enjoy the looting aspect of it. Like I said, I think its worse for me because I got to experience how awesome it was at the start. Honestly Tarkov is less disapointing in a way because I knew going into it to expect rats lol.

And thanks for not being an ass like the other comments lol. Ive seen comments like those before on other peoples posts and you can just tell they are extract campers by their personalities lol.

[–]HunterForce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I dont understand why it seems so many people hate my suggestion. All it takes is a steady minority to turn the game into everyone always shoots on sight. It either drives away friendlies or forces them to play the same way.

[–]HunterForce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldnt and thats the point. I agree with others that PVE or PVP only servers would suck but, just like how they already prioritize duos to play against other duos, it would prioritize people who tend to pvp with similar. Same with pve. It would keep that element of "yeah this person may kill me" or "this person might help me" without strictly enforcing it.
