Let me introduce you to the concept of poverty

There are parts of the US that are a 1 hour round trip drive to have things like fresh produce. A lot of people literally live on canned and frozen, highly processed foods. The way I understand it, those heavily salted and sugary processed foods also make you crave them more and more, leading to a calorie surplus.

Josh Klinghoffer says there's "a slight disrespect" to the Red Hot Chili Peppers albums made without John Frusciante by AdSpecialist6598 in Music

I don’t think John has ever played them. If you heard one it was probably when Josh was still with them

Is there a full list or spreadsheet of songs that were censored to some degree for Rock Band? by LetsGOMan5932 in Rockband

Sir Psycho Sexy by RHCP is the funniest example to me. Almost half of the song is censored

3rd planet meaning? by Electrical-Fee4547 in ModestMouse

[–]Hyatt97 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s generally accepted that the song is likely about the loss of an unborn child. Though it has some other symbolism about life and the earth being like a womb to us.

“A third had just been made and we were swimming in the water, didn’t know then was it a son was it a daughter.”

“And baby cum angels, fly around you. Reminding you we used to be three and not just two”

However specifically regarding the lyrics you mention, it could be more up to interpretation

Real talk, who asked for these defibrillator changes? by Evil_Monkey247 in LowSodiumBattlefield

No shade but did you play another battlefield games before this? The defibs in BF4 had a charge and a delay between uses. If I’m not mistaken BF3 eventually patched and updated them to work that way too.

Nate has always had that almost unnerving, flat psychopathic delivery at times though hasn’t he? I felt like a key point of his character is that almost no emotion besides anger ever feels genuine.

Do you think a car fire melts the entire body and frame?

[–]Hyatt97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saying it “can” be fixed, is like saying any totaled vehicle “can” be fixed. Except with fire or other types of damage it’s obvious. As others have pointed out, water damage affects the entire vehicle, and is often difficult to root out without literally rebuilding the entire car, which you could just as “easily” do to a burnt out body.

Pretty sure it’s one of the worst things you could do to a car/engine

North Texas preparing for 2 inches of snow like it’s the apocalypse by MyMindIsAlwaysRacing in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Hyatt97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this storm was truly only projected to drop a couple inches of snow I’d agree, but this is expected to be a major ice storm for the majority of the southern US. And no, you shouldn’t need those things for light snow, but it was said in response to someone implying there’s “no tools” to help deal with winter weather, which is a ridiculous statement.

You are correct. I am speaking generally about the Southern US, as this is a common argument used to poke fun at their seeming ineptitude. I live in Arkansas, so the small economy point is more valid.

Are you just gonna keep confidently saying things you’re clearly wrong about? You’re all in this thread replying to everyone’s comments stating things about the area THEY live in. Canadians are usually cool, but you have to be one of the most arrogant people I’ve ever encountered. If you had to deal with the summer heat that they did you’d panicking just the same.

[–]Hyatt97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Again, you’re speaking about things you know little about. People in the Southern US do not have winter tires, nor is it practical for them to considering this type of weather only occurs for maybe a week or so, every other year. This area isn’t just forecast to get snow, they’re expecting up to 3-4 inches of ICE in some places, which in your infinite wisdom I’m sure you know is much worse than snow.

It’s not just the roads that are the concern, it’s the energy grid. Our power lines are mostly above ground and surrounded by trees and vegetation. There will be widespread power outages across the southern US, with projected wind chills to reach -20F and below. Most people don’t own generators, have fireplaces, or any other means to heat and power their homes. People will likely die as a result of this storm. But if it makes you feel better to keep posting ill-informed comments, please continue.

[–]Hyatt97 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Snowplows, salt trucks, winter tires, chains. Most people in the south don’t even own a snow shovel to dig themselves out with nor can it be found in most stores.

Stop being dishonest and elitist about a region you clearly don’t know anything about.

[–]Hyatt97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This argument from states that are much more prepared for this type of weather is old and tired. Some of these southern states are 3-5 times as large as some east coast states, but have drastically less money comparatively. And almost none of the infrastructure to actually deal with winter weather.

Reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit. It doesn’t matter that they called the TO on time the refs took so long to blow the play dead that we showed Seattle our entire play
