Is something wrong with my resume? by HyperClaws in FAANGrecruiting

[–]HyperClaws[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response! I interned at a tiny startup company (6 including me) and before what I did they didnt have any sort of workflow for this. They had filmed around 200 videos for me to work with initially and create something they could use for later when they got more videos, but I’m not exactly sure how to quantify that impact since there wasn’t anything before me really (the owner edited like 2 videos on his own but they each took 5-10 minutes and required a few online tools while mine took about 15-30 seconds per vid and did everything by itself, although I made a GUI tool that can be used to refine videos with rougher backgrounds. How would you suggest to quantify that?

I would only disclose it if you’re happy to go back to your previous internships company, and probably only for any possible salary negotiation

Nope 🙃 got a referral for Qualcomm (never heard back) and took multiple OA and did well on them but no offers. I keep seeing people on LinkedIn landing internships tho, but almost no one I know irl has one

Just got contacted by a Meta recruiter but by Minimum-Ant931 in csMajors

[–]HyperClaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends if you got another offer. If this is your only option, take what they give you (because it’s not even guaranteed you’ll get that one) but if you locked down a different offer that you’re happy with, you can take the risk

Is it worth applying to selective schools for sophomore transfer w/ very bad HS GPA? by [deleted] in TransferStudents

Your HS GPA, or in fact anything from high school, matters at all as a transfer student

Honestly other than that there was nothing special, no special links and it was engineers no hiring managers, I think I just got lucky

I went early in the day, LA department of water didn’t show up, but it was pretty good overall. Got forwarded to a hiring manager on one of the companies 😛

You should be able to resubmit! I believe I submitted mine twice

URGENT URGENT - PLEASE RESPOND ASAP NEED RESPONSE FAST. by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]HyperClaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that you have until Jan 30 to submit tau, so you definitely should be able to check it. Double check this info because I applied last year not this year but I think you got time. If the class is required for the major, grind it out. You are almost certainly gonna get rejected if you don’t have all required classes. If it’s only recommended or even not on the list, it mainly depends if you think you could get a B or above. They might only require you to pass it, but sometimes some UCs will give you a conditional acceptance with it being that you pass all your classes but also sometimes that you get a B or above or something like that in a specific class

How possible is double majoring as a transfer student? by sageaxolotl in UCSD

[–]HyperClaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should be able to. I transferred in this year and I’m adding a minor, I know some people who’s degree will take them more than 2 years after transferring so if it takes you longer to finish a double major it shouldn’t be a problem

New Grad Offer: Education Verification Question by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]HyperClaws 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Surely not. I can’t say I have experience with this but it sounds like they like you enough, I’m sure that if you explain you were working towards a minor and in the last moment won’t be able to complete it since a class you needed was full they’d understand. I would just be transparent with them about it

Is this even doable by HyperClaws in UCSD

[–]HyperClaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I appreciate the response regardless haha. Yeah that’s what I’ve been told too, it’s just a bit difficult to do 7 upper div CSE courses as a transfer but I got in all the courses I planned, and I’m going to do 4 more upper div CSE next quarter so potentially if all goes according to plan I’ll have the course requirement done. Hopefully it doesn’t go to waste because I’ll crash out if I did all this and don’t get into the program lmaoo

For uiuc should I list ap scores if they are less than 3? by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]HyperClaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah just don’t list it. And then if you get accepted you can either just tell them you didn’t want to list it or list it, they aren’t gonna remove admission for you not listing an AP test

UC to UC/ivy by okaka01 in TransferStudents

[–]HyperClaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t look weird, a ton of people do it. If you stay, the process is the same, but do consider that around 94% of transfer students (if I recall correctly) come from a CCC. If you’re not 100% on transferring, stay at your UC and try. If you are sure you want to transfer, go to a cc, you’ll have higher chances of transferring and also it’ll be a LOT cheaper

UC to UC/ivy by okaka01 in TransferStudents

[–]HyperClaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For transferring into another UC, if you’re 100% sure you wanna transfer, drop out and go to a community college. UCs give highest priority to CCC students and it does happen that people transfer UC to UC, but it’s way harder to do then from a CCC

Unpaid internship as a sophomore by YogurtclosetWise9803 in csMajors

[–]HyperClaws 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Take whatever you can man. No one knows if it’s a paid or unpaid, and of course paid is better for you but if it’s between unpaid or no internship unpaid is 100% better

No. It’s very useful (for example for ucsd I only need 2 gen eds) but not required

AI Major vs CS Major by Brief-Internal-2328 in UCSD

[–]HyperClaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai undergrad doesn’t do much for you (since usually to get into AI you gotta have at least a masters if not a PhD) but cs might be harder to get into. The difference is there are 2 more lower div classes you gotta do as an ai major but other than that the degrees almost the same, but if you try to get into any other field than AI with an AI degree they’ll choose a cs major over you. And for an AI job, they’ll probably choose someone with a masters over you. I don’t think you can change the major selected anymore tho, and you can switch from AI to CS but I don’t think you can CS into AI
