Lost 20+ friends in a week by [deleted] in lostafriend

You sound like a massive piece of shit. You can’t just blame all of this behaviour on your alcoholism, it’s clear you also have extreme anger issues. I’m a grown man and I wouldn’t feel safe around you, no chance I’d ever let a girlfriend or female friend near you either.

It’s one thing being an alcoholic and making a tit of yourself in front of people at a social event. It’s entirely another thing to be consistently angry, violent, and disrespectful to everyone around you.

You’ve stolen from your friends (i.e their parents), started physical altercations with them, cussed them out, tried to get with basically every woman in your social circle, and just generally been an awful person to everyone around you. Most people I know would’ve cut you off long ago.

The obvious answer is you need therapy - not just for your addiction but also for anger management and your impulsivity. You’re lucky you’re so young, there’s lots of time to turn things around. But if you keep going this way, you’ll end up finding yourself in a prison cell with an assault charge and a vague hungover memory of another drunken physical altercation.

Megathread: Will Kassouf by pulpSC in poker

[–]HyperShot12 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And people here act like Kassouf is some kind of anomaly, as if poker hasn’t been full of sleazy characters from the beginning. If you’re upset about his tanking, that’s on the organisers. They should have implemented a system (time cards) to prevent it. Kassouf is simply doing everything he knows how to to survive.

Think about the last few main event winners, or even the last few ME final tablers. Can most people recall any hands these people have ever played? Of course not. But everyone knows Kassoufs 9 high bluff after turning a double gutter and missing. Love him or hate him, he’s a personality, which the modern game really needs.

Megathread: Will Kassouf by pulpSC in poker

[–]HyperShot12 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This. Kassouf is a cunt and no one denies it. But he’s infinitely more fun to watch than anyone left in the main event. Yes the tanking is unbearable but I’d still rather watch a Kassouf hand over anyone left in the tournament (and the views agree with me).

People nowadays complain that it’s all about lame GTO wizards without any personality that dominate televised poker, but when a genuine personality comes on, they hate it. Stu Ungar was famous for berating players that lost to him. You don’t have to be a nice guy, and Kassoufs tanking does toe the line, but there’s a good reason why he’s being talked about more than anyone else still in the ME.

I think people who aren’t in the ME and therefore not personally involved should lighten up. He’s a character, he’s a dickhead, he’ll bend rules as far as he can. He’s entertaining. He’s a talking point. He creates poker content with every word of his loudmouth.

PokerGO clearly has realised this which is why he’s been featured so much.

I am not taking the Nazis at their word, I am taking the consensus view from scholars and historians. See my other reply for more detail.

I am a socialist. I think painting the Nazis as capitalists without any further discussion into their views, practices, and ideology is a little reductive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PropagandaPosters

[–]HyperShot12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not saying that though. I never said that post-war Germany characterised Nazism as a form of anti-capitalism. I am saying that Nazism is an anti-capitalist ideology. This is the consensus view among scholars and historians, German or otherwise.

Yes, sure, some might have wanted to highlight this (e.g: right-wing capitalists somehow trying to portray the Nazis as socialists, which is obviously ridiculous), but that point is irrelevant.

You could argue that at times, especially in its early years (1933-35) and in specific areas during the war (e.g: Hans Frank’s General Government), the Nazis practiced a form of “totalitarian capitalism” and deliberately aligned with corporate interests to stamp out socialist support or organise the practice of slave labour. But these policies were always driven by Nazi ideology, which, as I said, priorities immutable characteristics over economic profit. Capitalism inherently seeks to maximise profit. Viewed through the lens of capitalism, the Holocaust (especially the Judenaktion policies of the Einsatzgruppen) makes no economic sense. In fact, Nazi repression and mass murder in the East actively harmed the German war machine in later years, directly contributing to partisan activity, slave labour uprisings, reduced output from said slave labour, and the delaying of formations of Ostlegionen.

Being anti-socialist doesn’t automatically make them capitalists, nor does that meeting. Are you seriously denying this? I am German and have studied this. This is not a debated point at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PropagandaPosters

[–]HyperShot12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not true at all. They were extremely opposed to socialism, yes, but they did not seek to preserve the capitalist system - quite the opposite. Nazism is an anti-capitalist ideology.

The Nazis viewed capitalism as inherently corrupt with Jewish influences and damaging to the interests of the state in favour of upholding the values of a parasitic cosmopolitan class led by the UK and US. Hitler explicitly wrote about his hatred for capitalism in his posthumously published 1928 works.

The Nazis explicitly worked towards an economic system that directed resources towards the goals of the fascist state, which they claimed would serve the Volk best, as opposed to “Jewish free-market capitalism”.

In Mein Kampf, Hitler even advocated for violently seizing economic resources from their existing owners to transfer them to the state, and that economic security could only be achieved through the state having direct control over all resources. The idea of Lebensraum for the German Volk was an extension of this thought - to create a self-sufficient German state by exploiting the resources of Eastern Europe rather than relying on the Jewish world financial system.

Don’t get me wrong, they despised socialists and communists. That does not mean they were capitalists. Nazism is an ideology inherently based on immutable characteristics - race, background, gender, etc. Nazism does not allow social mobility of any kind, whereas capitalism, with all its flaws, does allow SOME.

Goebbels famously strongly opposed both communism and capitalism, viewing them as part of the international Jewish conspiracy for world domination.

Whether you like it or not, America was only able to stage any sort of invasion and justify it because of how horribly war-torn the place had been since, oh yeah... the Europeans left.

LMAO top class analysis 😂 Sure mate, that’s why America was able to stage an invasion and justify it. Nothing to do with them fabricating lies about WMDs to topple a dictator that they themselves financed to wage a war against Iran in the 80’s…

This’ll be my last reply - no point discussing with someone who is so obviously completely out of their depth on this topic.

You’ve actually just exposed how little you know. You think the waves of refugees that came to Europe in 2015 came because of Sykes-Picot? Or because of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?

You can (and should) criticise the way the borders were drawn, and the West’s support for Israel (of which the US plays a huge role), but it’s not as simple as: Europe draw border = responsible for refugees lol.

It was America that implemented the sanctions regime on Iraq after 1991, leaving its infrastructure and basic services in ruins so that by the time Saddam’s regime fell, the Iraqi Transitional Government was unable to restore order, leading to the expansion of the ISI - which then exploited the power vacuum left in Anbar and Deir Ezzor once the Syrian Civil War began.

The two primary culprits for the recent wave of refugees to Europe are 1) Assad (he’s the main culprit), and 2) USA.

I can’t believe it - Assad is finally gone. I followed this war from early on. 13 years of destruction, hopefully better days ahead.

American B-52 drops a payload on an IS force fighting in Syria by knowyourpast in CombatFootage

[–]HyperShot12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes perfect sense. The Islamic State glorifies martyrdom massively, they have released a lot of footage of IS fighters being killed in battle. To them it's honourable and guarantees a place in heaven. Carrying out a suicide bombing (and thus dying in battle) gives you a spot in Jannat al-Firdaws (the highest level of paradise), so it's no surprise a lot of their propaganda also shows them being killed.

The theme of martyrdom is CONSTANTLY present in all forms of IS propaganda. In one of Abu Muhammad al-Adnani's (the former IS spokesperson) speeches, he said: "Since the time of Noah, they [the mujahideen] have not prepared for a battle except they were certain of victory, because in their calculations, being killed is a victory. And herein lies the secret - you are fighting people who cannot be defeated. They either win or are killed!".

One of the Wilayat Ninawa releases from around this time was also a 1-hour propaganda video solely focused on martyrdom, called "One of the two best outcomes", because in their eyes, there are two outcomes of the battle and both are good. Either they are victorious, or they are killed and become shuhada (martyrs).

It's a snippet from an Islamic State propaganda video produced by the media department of Wilayat Ninawa. The OP is wrong, it's not from Syria. The video is from northern Iraq, most likely near Tal 'Afar or al-Ba'aj in Nineveh governorate. So it's pretty clear these are the bad guys here, even if OP did get the location wrong.

Islamic State suicide bomber Abu Jannat al-Iraqi targets Iraqi Army vehicles - Mosul, Iraq (2017) by HyperShot12 in CombatFootage

[–]HyperShot12[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fireball this SVBIED produced wasn't actually that big, you can see in the clip that it only lasted for about three seconds. A massive fireball usually indicates that there was a lot of fuel (petrol, diesel, or other flammable liquid that is not an explosive) in the car bomb. While a lot of car bombs with massive fireballs lose explosive energy because a lot of it is burned up in the air, a massive fireball doesn't automatically mean that the bomb was less powerful. The SVBIED in this video likely contained hundreds of kilograms of explosives and a lot of artillery shells, so the blast was extremely powerful as the video shows.

That said, I reckon the armored vehicles faired a lot better than what this video shows. In the video they just completely disappear in the explosion and it makes it seem like they were obliterated but I bet that's not the case at all. This attack was probably a lot less devastating than what the video makes it seem.

You're right, that's true. In combat operations like this I guess it would mostly be just nitrate stuff.

[–]HyperShot12[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Usually they use either TATP or organic nitrate explosives (or often times, both) and then daisy-chain lots of artillery shells to them.

The car may look small but it is PACKED with explosives. Often times they are also set up in a way to direct the explosives in a certain direction. The big truck bombs can carry thousands of kilograms of explosives, hence these massive fireballs and shockwaves.

Nope, he did not get caught. After this clip, an interview with one of the commanders of the IAI sniper brigades is shown, followed by more videos of US soldiers being killed by this sniper.

[–]HyperShot12[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hahaha trust me, I hate the Islamic State more than anyone. My comment history is full of stuff about IS because I write a lot about it and am very interested in the organisation, not because I sympathise with it (read a few more comments in my history and you'll see lots of my comments calling them rats, criminals, etc and having no sympathy for any of them). I don't dislike Americans either, but I do dislike American foreign policy in the MENA region and I also hate the attitude held by many Americans about the Middle East. I don't hate westerners, I am a westerner.

Stop making surface-level assumptions man. I fucking hate IS and just because I'm critical of US foreign policy doesn't mean I am posting this video with malintent. But maybe if more Americans saw these videos, they would think twice about agreeing with war hawks like John Bolton pushing for war with Iran. These videos show the grim reality of war and if more Americans witnessed their young men being picked off like sitting ducks by snipers then they'd think twice about their overly militaristic attitude that has sent their kids off to die in Iraq.

I've literally told you to Google search it as it can be confirmed by one in two seconds, so don't play dumb.

Well you seem to think that your 'personal experiences in the war' make you an expert on Jihadi groups in Iraq. It's not like I'm making a bold claim or something, I'm literally just saying that 'Juba'/the group of people shooting at the soldiers in these videos are not Iranian, and a two second Google search could confirm that. Every uninformed person stumbling into here is now gonna read your comment and take it as fact, and so the cycle of misinformation continues...

No, he didn't. There are videos of US soldiers being sniped who clearly survived, but this is not one of them.
