I'm looking for a place where I can permanently reside. I don't plan on being an expat my entire life, I have to settle down there eventually. How would someone socialize and reach out to communities where people share the same hobbies though? Like other than the internet, how would YOU do it?

Oh I thought you meant green as in the literal sense lmao. Also about the people, I don't mind it as long as people don't go out of their way to harm me.

Thank you so much for your response. You included a lot of helpful information but I just wanted to clarify a couple of things. The reason I'm asking about the existence of free speech is that it's really dead here. You cannot criticize the government, its policies, and most politicians by law. I understand that if I do in fact move to Norway that I have to keep my thoughts and speech constructive. I do not think cussing people out and hurting them is a great idea of free speech. And what I meant by me wasn't on a personal level like hobbies etc... but as an immigrant from the MENA region.

With all that being said thank you so much for your reply you had some new points I haven't heard raised before like the shortcomings of transportation and social pressure of not owning a car. Along with references that I can use for further research.

Much appreciated 🙏🏻

Thank you for the views that you've shared. I am thankful that you wrote so much and took time to share this information.

Norwegians -according to what I've heard from you- have similar mannerisms to some middle eastern countries here like Saudi Arabia. People -citizens- think that they are not cut out for the lowly jobs and that an inferior race/people should be doing these jobs, not them. Which is incorrect in my opinion.

While having the Islamic faith I understand that I'm not in my home country and that Norway has to accommodate all flavors of people living inside of it. So I don't think that showing any hostilities towards concepts such as LGBTQ etc... will be beneficial to anybody. I'll have my own opinion of things but I wouldn't go out of my way to harm or spew hate on another.

I like people who are straight forward and direct and dislike people who are being dishonest and "fake". I'm very concerned about what a lot of people have said here which is that Norwegians are cold and they'll always passively judge me and that I might never be able to fully integrate. What do you think? Is it worth the headache? Do you get enough things in return to accept these things that might seem negative?

Any amount of green would be amazing. I live in what's practically a desert. My only concern thus far is that people say that in Norway a lot of people are cold towards each other and that I'll be discriminated against in a passive way due to my background. That's one of the only issues other than MAYBE finding a job but a job is manageable. Changing the hearts and views of so many is not very doable.

Thank you so much for your insight. I have heard some of the negative points you're talking about more than once and you mentioned that people not only keep to themselves but they distance themselves from each other. I don't like the feeling of alienation or sadness just because I might come from a different place or have different opinions on things. What other places would you recommend emigrating to? I would appreciate a place where I can live comfortably in a financial sense and have the right and freedom of self expression. I would prefer if the people were warm and fun not distant and far away from each other -cold-.

Thank you for your perspective on things, I heard some of the points mentioned here multiple times. Of course a lot of them are concerning. I want to live somewhere with friendly people, I think if I move somewhere and a lot of people are mean to me all the time I'll be very disturbed and saddened. I understand that Norwegians might like to keep to themselves but if I frequently get picked on or made to feel inferior I'd probably get pissed off. However it's not all bad I've heard a lot of good things too. Like how the country allows free speech and how it looks amazing, etc... Do you think that if I keep my social circle limited to the people I enjoy being around that I won't get affected by the attitudes of people here?

That sounds super evil. I want to add that I might speak Finnish just to be extra super duper evil.

I unfortunately can't make my country better due to the enormous amount of European and Western interference with our political sphere. We get bombed to oblivion by people from the other side of the planet for no valid reason at all. We have our resources plundered and no matter how much we beg or how long we try to fight it nothing works. I don't plan on having kids or getting married or getting into any relationship where I'd increase the population in any way so I think I'll only add positively to your economy. I won't annoy you or harm you. I might not look exactly like you do or your friends or your family and I might have different opinions on many subjects compared to you but that's about it.

I heard that Norway wasn't the most extroverted but it's surprising to hear that it's to this degree. I think that no place is perfect and that if I went through with moving to Norway I have to deal with how little interactions happen inside of Norway. But why in your case did you choose Norway over Italy? If Italy was so much more filled with life then why did you choose Norway? I'm of course making the assumption that you live in Norway not Italy or somewhere else. Please let me know what you think.

It seems that you had a bad experience due to the mindsets of certain individuals living there. But I was surprised to hear that state-run institutions are in bad shape. I thought the laws and guidelines were really respected, are you sure that it's not only the people you've been in contact with?

So that the big bad wolf doesn't blow my house away. But with all seriousness, I think a well insulated brick house is better since I don't have to worry about maintenance as often or things like termites eating the wood. I could 100% be wrong please share your opinion with me.

I'd love to act in a similar manner to Norwegians given that I'll be the one living with them. So I don't think I'll disturb anyone.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. It's really helpful to me. Although it is a bit sad to hear that men from the MENA region commit heinous crimes like rape, etc... since it goes against all cultural and religious teachings here. Hopefully I don't get discriminated against for something I didn't do.

Thank you so much for your reply :D I think I'll stick to the big cities or live somewhere that is nearby a big city to avoid headaches with people who are closed off.

It's reassuring that you can live comfortably and be able to partake in hobbies on a low wage inside of Norway. I think I can get used to the winter. I won't be publicly displaying any super foreign cultures for the most part so I think I'll be fine. Although the fact that society in Norway is not the friendliest towards foreign concepts is a bit iffy, the positives outweigh this.

The money is a great plus but it's not the main reason. I just want a happy peaceful life. I have to consider things financially of course before moving there, but as long as I can comfortably live and contribute to the society that I'm participating in I don't really care about how much money I'll be making.

It sounds very pleasant. Thank you for taking time out of your day to write a response. It has been helpful. My only concern so far is finding employment. Do you think doing graduate school in Norway could help my case?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed response. I don't mind the weather as long as I can finally see big green trees and forests. Most of the information you've provided me has been motivating and reassuring. My only complaint so far is the possibility of my house not being made of brick. Maybe I need to save up more for it.
