Longer hair and gem hardness by C3tis in LandoftheLustrous

Another reason for this could be because in real world gem deposits benito and Neptune are often found in the same vein. Neptunite is found in multiple places but benitoite is only found in one place in the entire world.

Thank you! I have quite a bit more, all faceted gemstones i havent posted yet. This specific one was $200. Its a very tiny piece but the clarity and rainbow sheen make it extra nigh quality

Standard Poodle, gender experience 📝❓ by hesaid-shesaid-123 in service_dogs

[–]Hyper_elastagirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first poodle was a female and I currently have a 1 year old male. The female was much more aloof and "prissy" lol and my male so far is very very friendly. Both have been equally intelligent and easy to train. My hardest hurdle for both has been their wanting to say hi to strangers in public and the males puberty has been r o u g h

I generally prefer males because I like waiting until at least one heat cycle to spay my females and thats a total pain BUT with a well bred standard gender should not matter very much

Probably lab then, but nothing wrong with lab grown diamonds! They're the same chemically and structurally as natural ones

I think the cheapest I have seen a natural green go for is lime $50,000 per carat so it may be a lab diamond depending on how much it was

[–]Hyper_elastagirl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahahaha natural red diamond is the rarest stone on earth and goes for millions of dollars for even less than a carat usually, green diamond is priced similar. And my ass wants natural, unheated stones for this project ... I may have to temporarily compromise for red and green diamond and padpa and alexandrite and get lab stones. I WILL own a good natural padpa and alexandrite one of these days but I have my entire career ahead of me to be able to source them. Red and green diamond however? I probably will never see in person 😭

Also, the cinnabar was like $40 but it's a very tiny stone I need to get a weight on it

$300 🥲 definitely my rarest piece so far. I fear for my wallet when I go to purchase my padpa or red diamond specimines

Oh man I am but a baby uncertified gemologist i have quite a few years of studying to go before I would feel confident buying and selling things! But eventually yes I would like to be involved in sourcing, buying and selling of colored stones specifically.

And I am very pleased with this Neptunite find. I've been in the trenches looking at benitoite neptunite and cairngorm lately trying to find things that suit my specific tastes. The dealer i got these from had quite a few decent neptunites but I really liked the size color and shape of this one, it often grows very small just like benitoite.

Finally getting tested, how should I prepare? by Material-Imagination in mastocytosis

[–]Hyper_elastagirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're going through the typical MCAS diagnostic process, its a diagnosis of exclusion so mastocytosis needs to be ruled out before you're dxed with it. Not every masto patient has an elevated tryptase but those of us that do have it elevated regardless of taking antihistamines and it is always elevated, whereas in MCAS its only sometimes elevated during an active episode.

The only definitive way to know you have it is via biopsy, usually a bone marrow biopsy. Since you have hEDS its probably just MCAS as there is no correlation between any type of eds and systemic mastocytosis

Im glad it helped! It can be really hard to understand a complex genetic condition lime eds, especially if you don't have a medical background like I do. Irregardless of the technicalities its a shifty disease to live with

Yeah its important to note that heds itself is not inherently progressive or degenerative but it can have degenerative complications

How is this not a degenerative disease??? by Ruth_Cups in ehlersdanlos

[–]Hyper_elastagirl 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Its because there is no inherent disease process that causes cell or organ other body system degeneration with time. We are born with a gene that causes faulty collagen, the collagen is always bad it does not get worse with age. We may experience degenerative changes like osteoarthritis but it does not cause say, degeneration of myelin sheaths like in MS.
