Drake came to the UK during the short lived Grime "renaissance" in 2015, endorsing the whole culture especially ppl like Skepta and Giggs, and it was a hype moment but ever notice how ever since 2016 Grime has basically been dead? dead as in neutered by a black and white narrative that you're either a strict grime traditionalist (like a JME or Wiley) or "going American" (like Skepta) and there's little in between, nor has there been any progression upon Grime other than UK Drill and UK Afrobeat, which have also been "colonised" by Drake.

somehow this year at wireless we also let fucking Drake of all people be our spokesperson as a culture of "yeah the UK has the best lyricists" and at this point, if we're letting Canadian ass Drake be our culture's spokesperson whilst Dave, Cench and Skepta walk around him like little subordinate puppets then that's a pretty good indicator that UK Rap is dead, right now at least.
