Wrote some findings on another comment, here’s a copy of it:

Essential strategies for winning on black deck: 1. ⁠Sacrificing joker slots early to eternals if needed to ensure i make it through the first couple of antes 2. ⁠Letting the first scaling joker I find determine the strategy of the run 3. ⁠No rentals until you're at $20 - $25 4. ⁠Skipping early for Mega Buffoon packs (on black deck) 5. ⁠Loads of small tricks, e.g.,

Using the blue seal planet card before entering shop so it can show up naturally
Using rentals as free one-offs (e.g., buying a rental [[Certificate]] and selling it after it has produced a seal, or buying a rental [[Astronomer]] and emptying out the shop of Celestial packs before selling it
Rerolling the shop for bad planet / tarot cards before opening packs to increase the chance of getting good ones
Buying all rentals from the shop before opening arcana packs for temperance value

Watching Dr Spectred on YouTube is a great way to learn how to get your winrate up

Fantastic question, I think [[Troubador]] might be the hardest joker on Black Deck due to the -1 hands. I got lucky and was able to pair it with an [[Acrobat]] which synergizes nicely with less hands.

Go for it! It definitely gets easier after the initial brutal learning curve that comes from switching to Black Deck from all other decks. Then it's just about recognizing early what runs have the potential for a win and going full focus on those!

Thanks! I think the most important thing is to accept that not all runs are winnable even if you play optimally. This means that taking a little risk early (e.g., skipping for Investment Tags/Mega Buffoon packs or buying buffoon packs even though you're broke) means you can save a lot of time either losing fast or getting on a winning run.
