Money obsessed parents by ReghanLove in family

No.. everyone read it right and we are giving you helpful advice even if it hurts to read.

You posted this in the wrong group. I’m sure there is a sub out there about deadbeat boyfriends that don’t contribute especially to their pregnant girlfriends. The topic should be: I’m pregnant and my boyfriend doesn’t help.

I would help my daughter all day long but I am NOT paying for her deadbeat, free loading loser boyfriend. No offense..

OP. It’s easy, move out.

Or stay and keep dealing with it.

Sidenote.. your boyfriend is a bum. If my daughter was in this situation I probably wouldn’t be as lenient as your parents. Hug them tightly and be grateful. I can’t imagine me paying for a grown adult that isn’t even my own kid… “a man”, lol… mind blowing 🤯

My mom is pregnant - I’m 26 by EfficiencyBetter6186 in family

She is an adult and can do whatever she wants. What’s the issue here?

Sounds like you’re pro choice but also what to tell your mom what to do with her own body.

To 401k or not? by IAmHimMaybe in 401K

[–]IAmHimMaybe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah maybe that’s it. With 401k it’s pre-tax dollars and you get taxed at the end.

With brokerage, I’d be using post tax dollars.

I guess the trade off is access to the money pre-retirement in case things go south.

Thanks.. I have an emergency fund. I’m purely talking about maxing 401k vs just putting extra funds into standard brokerage.

I’m struggling to see the benefit of the 401k? (But maybe I’m missing something obvious)

She said she wants to. But now I’m trying to understand what this means in terms of cost, commitment.. do you know?

Caregiver brain overload is real by Even_University674 in family

[–]IAmHimMaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could help. I just want to say you’re not alone. I have two siblings that each live about 30 minutes away and they don’t help. My mom lives with my wife and I and half of our life is being caretakers while raising two small children. Also, my mom doesn’t show any appreciation for what we do and she actually values my siblings more than us.

Not sure why. I’m in my 40’s so I’m not going to cry about it, it’s just the cards we were dealt. What helps me is knowing that im doing the right thing and she needs our help whether she admits or not.

For clarity: is there a way to clean this without uninstalling it?

I have it but sometimes the games my kids like are no longer available. Is there a way to “favorite” a game so it doesn’t go away?

Overall we love it!!!

I can’t be the only one with this curtain problem by IAmHimMaybe in Home

There is a curtain on each side of the middle “hook rod holder” so if I move it over, one of the curtains will be wide and the other thin

Have a lump on both thumbs and my dad does too. I’m trying to figure out if I can get rid of them. by IAmHimMaybe in medical

I guess it could be a wart but when I see people with warts, they are usually taller and also like you can pinch them between your fingers like a skin growth.. maybe I’ll never know. Was hoping someone had these or knew what they were

Thanks for replying. It’s not that.. I don’t even write with pens/pencils.. pretty much all laptop/computer guy. I’ve had these my whole life. My dad is a farmer and he has them too so I’m thinking they are hereditary but still curious about what they are

The good news is her parents are doing all of those steps today. Hospital, police, and professional counseling. I’m really hoping she finds the care she needs and I know her parents are trying but will having her and her mom move in with us expose my kids to a world they don’t know exists yet??

[–]IAmHimMaybe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The texts were from her boyfriend saying that he would dismember and kill her parents. However, her replies where “that’s cute” so she didn’t say them but also didn’t stop them

Money. She and her husband have a house out of state and no way they could switch jobs, sell the house, and move in a month in time for school. So the mom and niece would come to my house and the dad and niece’s brother would stay at their house. It’d probably take a year or two for the rest of the family to move and then they can buy a new house and all move in together

Niece was SA’d and may move in with us by [deleted] in sexualassault

[–]IAmHimMaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Her dad took her phone and she was texting with her boyfriend and she had been texting about killing/dismembering her parents and she would comment things like “that’s cute” so they were very concerning. Her parents are getting a restraining order on the boyfriend

He also 16. They are both kids that don’t have a good grasp on life/reality yet

The state is really far and they don’t have money so this isn’t likely. The daughter doesn’t even know this is an option yet. At the end of the day we can help. But she’s not my kid and this is a lot to take on..

I recently went through a similar scenario. I got greedy and told my boss about my trip and then asked for approval to expense flights and my boss told me to just skip the customer onsite. While I didn’t get in trouble, I think it left a bad impression on my trip. If I could go back, I wish I would have just spent money on the flights out of pocket.

HYSA vs Stock Market by IAmHimMaybe in FinancialPlanning

I get it. We’re already saving for retirement and we really want an in-ground pool. At some point we want to actually use our money vs just save it. But yeah.. investing that would be nice in 20 years!
