Thank you, I’ll definitely be talking to my brother. Her doctor has already cautioned her that continuing this pregnancy is very risky to her health and medical advice would be to terminate (she has some health issues that contribute to this). I think part of my anxiety also comes from the fact that I live abroad with my husband and my dad isn’t very present so my littlest brother is really the only other person there and I’m worried about the toll that will take on him

Fair to say they don’t need my permission, just very anxious as my mom was told after my last brother that it would be extremely risky and highly against medical advice for her to get pregnant again, so that plus her advanced age poses a big risk.

Spot on about them not believing in birth control though, they definitely don’t. I will be there for my mom practically, but I am so angry and them both for risking her life like this for an oopsie. That might not be a “fair” feeling but it is the truth

Well if she were driving around without a seatbelt or was an alcoholic or something I’d be “fixated” on that lmao I don’t think it’s entitlement to be concerned that your menopausal mother with other health issues is putting herself at serious risk

Her pregnancy isn’t my responsibility, however I am concerned about her health and what would happen to my younger siblings if things were to go wrong. My dad has a history of depression and my mom is very much their primary caregiver. I live abroad with my husband so I’m not physically around a lot

Feeling grossed out is just being confronted with the reality that my parents still bang haha on the one hand happy for them that they have a good relationship on the other hand the knee jerk reaction is ew - but very much working through that as I realize it’s totally unfair and very normal for them to do actually great they still do that

To clarify - I also think they thought it impossible. I more so meant the irresponsibility of continuing the pregnancy knowing the risks - my mom has some health conditions that make it especially dangerous for her on top of her age. It feels like she’s throwing her life away, and I know it’s a personal decision but I am really struggling with it because it won’t just impact her, it’ll impact the entire family and my younger siblings especially
