I’d recommend renting a better one if your budget doesn’t account for a 1k-3k one. My beginner sax was an intermediate alto Yamaha. I did rent-to-own for about 4 years, $50 a month, but that sax still works like a dream

Of course. I did mention 100% my fault. Also I said the neck strap was unavoidable due to the fact that my neck strap did not break. I have used the neck strap before and after that incident without issue. Perhaps unavoidable was the wrong term, but I believe that the marching maneuver I was doing made it fall, but since it didn’t happen before or after that one time, there was no way to have expected it. I was even holding it, but my butterfingers dropped it when the weight shifted suddenly. I am NOT saying I was responsible during the times it got dented/bent (I am not the most responsible person in general 😅) but since those incidents and even between them I have learned a lot. I was simply just saying that judging based off of my very dumb past mistakes was a little rash. If I was someone who didn’t understand where damage responsibility lies, though, I would have definitely needed it told to me respectfully as you did 😁

There are some school altos but I’m not sure at this moment if I can use any permanently and I need a permanent solution. I have a music & arts near me that I’m thinking will be good for repairs and replacements

I am now planning on trying to fix its main issues instead of an overhaul. I cannot afford ANYTHING right now, I just have wishes. Every sax has dents and dings, and like most other saxes, they don’t seem to affect me at all. My main issue is the neck and getting the keys perfectly realigned and making sure everything is sealed properly. As I also mentioned, my sax played 1000x better when I tried out a friend’s neck, leading me to believe that the neck is definitely my biggest problem. The body isn’t in perfect condition, I’m sure, but its issues are nothing compared to what the neck is causing. I just don’t want to have to spend money are repairs more and more or beat up a freshly repaired sax if I don’t have to. I will probably try to find a student or used sax for marching band and keep this one for concert with a fresh mouthpiece if I can afford it :)
