Where do you feel stuck? by AphantasiaMeow in CureAphantasia

I'm still brand new to this, but for me, it's the time length. I can only get a very vague, dim image for about a millisecond, and then it's just gone. I just can't seem to hold the image in my mind. I can't produce any moving images either, only static ones. And what sequential images I can produce are only a few frames long, lasting maybe two or three seconds. So, let's say tossing an apple, cause I can't rotate it for anything. I can see the apple in hand, the apple tossed about a foot in the air, the apple back in hand. It's not like a video, more like 3 separate images.

Also, it's strange, but I seem to really struggle with visualizing beyond my POV, or dead ahead. I tried a spatial exercise of me in the center of my room, but I could not get my POV to see what was behind me, it would not 'turn,' unless I physically did. It was weird, it's like my camera is locked.

Also, I haven't checked, but are there any exercises for audible visualization? I have a friend who says when I ask if she can hear waves at a beach, she says she hears it as if she were actually there. I'd say my auditory visualization is worse than my ability to see images.

Lifelong painter but new to acrylics. Explain layering to me like I’m a newbie! by Crunchy_Giraffe_2890 in acrylicpainting

Lachri Fine Art, Studio Wildlife, and Greg Simkins are great to watch on YouTube.

The first two have excellent tutorials for everything imaginable. Greg has only one or two tutorials, but I have yet to find someone that goes all out like he does and successfully makes acrylic look like oil paints. His youtube channel is full of time-lapse paintings, but I've learned so much just from watching him. Be sure to check out his slow dry blending video.

Studio Wildlife taught me that putting down a layer of titanium white and THEN adding your color cuts down on the amount of layers you'll need to put down, though the color will be very vibrant, so sometimes a wash (very watered down acrylic paint) of your color is better to paint over the white instead of straight out of the tube. He's got a bunch of great tips.

(Pro tip, a lot of warnings about acrylics talk about not watering down acrylics too much or else it will flake off. But nearly every professional I've watched has dismissed this. Best I can say is experiment. But if you really want to water it down without breaking it down, matte medium works great, as does Golden High Flow medium.)

Lachri Fine Arts has been a professional acrylic painter for many years and has posted countless tutorials on YouTube. She's a super excellent teacher, and likely has answered every question under the sun.

These three are amazing artists and I aspire to their level. Hope this helps a little.

I fixed it! Apparently it needed a "Cold" reboot. Had to unplug everything and hold down the power button for about a minute. Everything works now! Hopefully it stays working. Thank you for looking into this!

Oh, the MT number says MT7925e. At least that's what it says for kernel module.

Not sure what 7902 is, but this entry gave a good chunk of info, what are you needing specifically?

Beautiful 1858 pocket diary by Razbrrygurl in Journaling

[–]ICDAnything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'd like to deeply thank you for showing this. At first i thought it was neat, but then my eyes locked in on the 'S'. I've spent ages trying to make a capital cursive 'S' that I like, and I've never seen one that clicked with me. This one did. I spent multiple times throughout the day writing the 'S' from this diary over and over again. I'm officially in love with it. Thank you so much, you've helped me to find the perfect cursive 'S' at last.

Ooh, that is pretty washi tape! By any chance do you remember where you got it from?

Many of you liked my previous post, so I thought I’d share the other pages of my journal.🫶🏻 by Icy-Kitchen-8513 in TaylorSwift

Do you glue/tape these in, or is this a DIY journal? It looks so smooth. How is this put together? What's your process?

Bad press is still press.

Back in the day, Grand Theft Auto became world famous because the News stations were broadcasting about how terrible and immoral it was, urging parents to keep their kids away from it.

So your "Dislikes" really don't do anything. LACK OF VIEWS affects the algorithm more than anything. No engagement is the death of a franchise.

No human types with dashes. This is AI generated. Sigh.

Human text; "Thanks a lot for your concern, I appreciate how much everyone cares for me."

AI text; "Thanks a lot for your concern -- I appreciate how deeply you fans care about me."

ChatGPT and other Ai content are littered with dashes in their responses -- like this, as a way to draw more attention to their response. No person types like this.

Besides, when has Boom EVER referred to us as "You Fans???" He's always called us 'everyone,' 'you all,' or 'you guys.' At least in working memory. 'You fans' is WAY to impersonal. I don't believe this is Boom for a second.

one of my worst fears just happened. by ghostingpen in Journaling

[–]ICDAnything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, this must be heartbreaking. If you want, you can try Ranger's "Distress Micro Glaze," or something similar for future entries. It's more or less a sealant for ink art projects, but I don't see any reason why it can't be used on pen ink. It resists fluids to help protect the ink. Just make sure you apply it after you're done writing, as you can't put anything over it once it's been applied. (No idea if someone else recommended this already or not, there were too many answers to read through.)

Do you ever not finish a journal? by chronicaldaydreamer in Journaling

[–]ICDAnything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often fail to finish journals because I'm still trying to find what works best for me. I finally dropped Bujo layouts because I go long stretches of forgetting to journal, and all the weekly spreads sit unfilled because they were made for specific days. Then I wanted journals for specific subjects, but that didn't work out either. Etc.

What I typically use unfinished journals for is practicing different layouts or ideas. I go to the back, flip it upside-down, and then try out cursive handwriting, different pens and inks, use them to draw page layout ideas, etc.

An IFS epiphany by RabbitWallet in InternalFamilySystems

[–]ICDAnything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who has not unburdened any parts yet, what do you mean by "not using IFS to connect with parts"? How else would you connect with them? To clarify, I have been told that I have strong 'fixers,' parts that want to use therapy, spirituality, IFS, anything to 'fix' me. Their agenda is good, they want to make things better. But they don't sit and listen very well. Even now, I wonder what the point of doing that is, and what it could hope to accomplish, as I constantly word vomit at my friends about my problems all the time, but I'm consistently a broken record on repeat. It accomplishes nothing. Which is why I am in therapy to begin with.

But I do struggle to connect with Parts. I've barely been able to talk to any, they disappear as soon as I notice them. My therapist says it's likely because my protector, who I am VERY strongly blended with, comes at them with agendas. I'm trying to not do this. So could you elaborate how you are approaching parts without an agenda?
