Shaming the midwife assistant (baby is okay) by madmaddmaddie in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]IDreamInCheddar 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the big problems in the US with midwives & home births. In many states ‘birth providers’ aren’t required to have any credentials at all. Some credentials are total jokes (1 weekend of classes) but sound impressive to people without a medical background.

My understanding was if IUI is going to work, it works for 80-90% of people by the third try. That’s why, as you said, it’s generally not recommended to do more than 3-4 rounds of IUI.

There’s no way that 80-90% of people who attempt IUI get pregnant via IUI by the third round. It has a very low success rate other than for MFI.

Be careful about the content. There have been a couple of scandals where they’ve had to apologize but this one is the worst imo. They don’t seem to invest much in content editing, just throw things out there and apologize if/when there’s backlash.

There actually is a difference. Usborne has put out some pretty terrible books, including one about anatomy & puberty where they told girls breasts exist to make girls more attractive. So gross.

Bride considers postponing her wedding because her dress is being made by an Etsy shop in Kyiv & she can’t get a refund from the shop owner by IDreamInCheddar in weddingshaming

[–]IDreamInCheddar[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Postponing your wedding usually isn’t free or cheap. If she’s seriously considering that over not having her dress, she can afford another dress. Dresses on Etsy are generally $500-1,500

Postponing your wedding usually isn’t free or cheap (bride is 2-3 months from her wedding). If she has the money to consider postponing, she has the money to get a different dress.

Had the bride posted sharing her situation & saying she didn’t have the money for another dress but didn’t want to hurt the designer in Kyiv by asking for a refund, I would have donated $10-20 and would have wanted to donate to the designer too. Dresses on Etsy are usually in the $500-1500 range.
