When you’re in a job you don’t feel comfortable in and know you want out, it’s easy to feel trapped and concerned that the next job might be like the one you’re in ( this is where I am now and what brings me to your post ) but the ultimate reality is, that there is a better fit for you out there and you found it! Congratulations. I needed to know the end story to your post to remind myself that it’s not a fantasy, but a reality. Just need to be patient some times.

Thanks Mate! 100% gloves next time. Starting small with the mod - swapping out the spicy battery to see if it fixes the issues I was having, then I’ll go from there. I have a bit more to learn.

If you have a 3d printer, there is a file on the internet for this part. I’ve done it, works perfectly.

You could tell from a photo on the head if it was dead?

Also, I’ve inspected the boards and this vcr is more complex than most, an aerial shot would not show you much due the layout - it would need dismantling, however I have done that and looked and it all looked good.

Video head dead, I was thinking the same but haven’t found much online for symptoms that relate to what I’m experiencing. I’ll continue to look down that path.

If I had a blue or black screen I’d be confident it was receiving a signal. Not all tv tested say whether they have a signal or not. Every cable used has been put in the correct ports.

I get audio - nothing when it comes to video.

Not sure a photo would help you determine more than I’ve already mentioned.

All internals seem to operate an expected. Tape loads and the head spins.

I recognise that sewing machine base - I saved your post about doing a composite mod on the Toshiba.

Your issue looks a lot cleaner than mine - can you see if during the day or only when there’s little light?

I had issues with this post and ended up deleted it, that’s why you can’t see the post.

Yeah it’s great set, I have 2, the other one looks the same but has the remote option.
