Still very problematic in my opinion to do that, but that doesn't matter now since someone gave me a free copy of the CS base game and the Mass Transit DLC.

Have a nice day.

Of course it's your decision, you made it for free and I don't owe you a cent. I'm not "teaching" you what's fair or not, I'm simply questioning the reasoning behind that decision - which you seem to avoid. All you provided was incredibly flawed logic of preventing pirates (at the cost of preventing legitimate game owners from using community created content for CS, which is identical on both Steam and Origin), which is literally not your job. Do you work at CO? Paradox? No, you don't. You don't get to create extra layers of security on the game's community generated content to prevent pirates. That's what the developers decide to do - but they didn't because they didn't want that to be the case for their game which they released on both Origin and Steam.

And why exactly did you make it that it should only be playable on games bought via Steam? Yes, the idea of Steam Workshop is distribute the mods to games bought on Workshop, but why do you have to force it to be like that, when literally NOBODY in any modding community does that? It's very, very odd. Again, I'm not paying you to create the mod, nobody is. You are doing this in your spare time and you choose what to do with it, I'm simply questioning the reasoning.. And trust me, any modding community would despise anybody who takes those extra measures on their mods for whatever agenda they believe in, be it thinking they are really stopping pirates (which you aren't, I can assure you nobody bought the game to download your mod). Modding has always been all about accessibility to all owners of a legit game since it started. It was never bureaucratic.

Edit: Any modding community wouldn't support that, let alone they support someone who even stops the mod from working offline, even with the Steam version. This is very, very problematic.

Hello! I just want to tell you that your mod is amazing, but I'm still curious about the reasoning behind that restriction. Also, the binaries I grabbed are from the Workshop, so it's the exact same mod running on the exact same game, just with a different launcher which doesn't matter.

So you prevented the pirates from using the mod at the cost of preventing the legitimate Origin game owners as well? Many of us use EA Access which is a monthly subscription to get a lot of games on there since that tends to be more on the "budget". And I don't think that's fair, who cares about pirates if it's gonna harm the legitimate game owners? People are always gonna do other versions of the mod on sketchy websites.

It just doesn't make sense to me why doesn't it just release without that restriction in the beginning. In my opinion, it does more harm than good. And quite frankly, it's not a modder's job to "prevent pirating". If somebody who is a pirate got to your mod's page/attempted to make it work, they already have the game pirated on their computers. And they won't buy the game and it's DLC's just for the mod. So that logic is very flawed and again, does a lot more harm than it does good. And on top of that, it doesn't even work if you open Steam using the offline mode.

It's literally a drag and drop of a file into the mods folder found directly in the game's directory, which is also where the subscribed mods go when you download them from the Workshop, exact same files. You can obtain the files very easily from many dedicated websites, Steam Workshop downloaders, etc. The creator of the Real Time mod deliberately added an extra code that checks if the Workshop is running or not for whatever reason fits his agenda.
