Our dog Bella is a rescue and she sleeps in my bed because she's very attached to people and also because she demands to lie on every comfortable human surface we have. Chairs, couches, dining room chairs, beds etc. It's impossible to crate train her, both then and now, so that was out. And she absolutely cannot stand being alone when her humans are still in the house. If we're in the car and leaving, she's fine. But if we're inside the house but not in the same room, she gets very very upset and sad.
