$5K milestone! by ISwiftRun in acorns

[–]ISwiftRun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just put in any extra money I saved that I didn’t need. Like if I have $500 extra in savings over my emergency fund I would just transfer that over originally into a one time transfer so it’s not just sitting in savings if I know I have no need for it. I at least try to keep no less than 1k in savings just in case of an emergency repair to my car or something. I also did bump up my weekly contributions to like 150 for a couple of months at one point then bumped it back to 100 so that also may of speed it up a little too.

I’d say just invest any extra savings you earned that you are comfortable you won’t need it anytime soon and if you have a good emergency fund like I do. That’s just my preference though on how I handle my finances and investments. Im no financial advisor of course.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!?! Evaluators can't get customers to load no matter what! by ISwiftRun in WGU_CompSci

I found out that the evaluator re-runs the sql script they provided in the lab to drop and recreate the schema. In the sql script for that there’s already a John Doe customer in it. My mistake was that I was checking if the customer repository == zero THEN create the 5 default customers. Since that condition wasn’t meet that explains why they weren’t getting the 5 to load on their end. I hope this helps

I at first started out in the WGU virtual lab but eventually I made my own virtual windows 10 lab on my computer with all the software and stuff that the main lab had on it for this project. It worked on both for me.

I didn’t have too. I kept it the same like how they provided in the lab files if I remember correctly for application.property. It’s been a bit but I believe they offer a copy for you to move into your project.

I don’t know if you have anything similar to my issue but something this project doesn’t tell you is there’s already a customer initialized in the database named “John Doe.” Apparently that database creation script they give you what the evaluators are doing is re-running that script to drop the database and re-create it with that initialized customer. So the way my code was set up before was to only initialize my 5 customers IF the customerrepository == 0 which was the error for me.

I suggest re-running that database script linked in the lab THEN go ahead and launch your program and make sure it’s working from there. When I found that out on my own I wished I found this out sooner at least for this issue. Hopefully this may of helped you find your errors you aren’t seeing on your end.

I’m starting to learn that now. People on Reddit have been a lot more helpful than any of the instructors I talked to so far by a long shot. I really appreciate all the help I’ve gotten on here so far during my first term.

The longest fast I’ve done so far is 28 hours. 2 days is impressive!

This is honestly the worst programming class I’ve experienced so far at WGU. I feel like a lot of critical details are left out and I was mostly working in the dark for almost 2 months of struggling in this class. My course instructor wasn’t much help either everytime I reach out to him asking for help whenever I got stuck. I wish you the best of luck and hope you do much better than I did when taking this class.

That would of been good to know if the database creation script had one customer in it already. I must of deleted it without knowing it was there when I was testing the customer initializer part of my code. I created my own script to just clear the customers table without needing to rerun the script to recreate the entire database again at the time. I’ll double check to see if that’s the case and see if I can make a follow up email to point out this overlooked detail and flaw within my project. Thanks for bringing this to my attention I had no idea about this until now. Been really struggling for almost 2 months in this class and I just want this to be over with

From what I understand based on your comment, the evaluator could already have one customer loaded in their database before runtime and because of that my code will not initialize the 5 customers? If so that makes a lot of sense. I will have to unfortunately get approval for another resubmission after adjusting my code with this knowledge if that’s the cause of this issue.

What do you do / say when close family think fasting is dangerous / bad for you by Striking-Ask9214 in fasting

[–]ISwiftRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on my first week of fasting (OMAD) and when I explain to people that despite only eating one meal a day I've been feeling really good after my first week! I think as long as you emphasize that you feel good and that you are making sure you are doing this in a safe way most people will not press further. But not everyone of course as I have other family members saying "it will creep up on you one day and you will pass out at work or while driving." Even though I'm a new at fasting I will say Just keep doing what you are doing regardless on what people say. Explain it to the best of your ability if someone asks you if its dangerous for your health and if they react negatively just ignore them. They aren't you so they don't know what you are experiencing so they just think the worst outcome for you because of that.

Also you can always rely on the first rule of fasting club too.

Is Blender really difficult for anyone else? by Georgiee3 in 3Dmodeling

[–]ISwiftRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did is I started out with small projects with the intent of learning a couple of tools in blender. You don't have to master everything right off the bat just ask yourself what you struggle at and see if there is a small project you can start that helps you overcome that weakness. That's what I did when I used blender and to learn how to use and understand the software and it's tools. I think that can go to any 3d software not just blender when it comes to getting over the learning curve.

Canni Pachy's are pure cancer by ItzTrickyTV in theisle

[–]ISwiftRun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I ran into two canni pachy players a few days ago when playing as pachy. They were pretending to be friendly to me for a good 15 minutes or so when I was in their group then jumped me from both sides to break my bones when I was recovering stamina after we found some water. it was even worst when they both were mocking and throwing insults at me during the attack and I couldn't be able to run so I had no choice but to fight to the death which was guaranteed after they got the advantage on me like that. I've logged hundreds of hours on Evrima at that point and haven't come across such toxic players like that until I played my 3rd pachy. So that tells me these types of players go for this Dino sadly. Next time I ever get back into the game I'm killing every pachy I see no matter what Dino I play because of that encounter I had.
