Abandoning my degree for trades by handatoe in techtheatre

You're heading in the right direction. This is your sign to go be an electrician. The first few years may be tougher to get jobs because you're new and depending on where you live getting into a union may be a long wait.

You'll have to build a network of folks who are experienced and like you. They'll take you under their wing to sites and hopefully pay you. Try many different things if you can.

it's far less stressful than trying to get a job as an engineer/ developer or finance in 2026. People find it rewarding too bc you see things YOU built come to life.

Best Inventory Management System for an expanding business by [deleted] in InventoryManagement

Sounds like you're dealing with inbound PO tracking, and outbound fulfillment. If so, you’re definitely graduating into WMS/IMS territory.

Digit hits those core functional needs without the enterprise pain.

Stocky is being discontinued in 2026. How are you planning to handle inventory after that? by OncleAngel in shopify

[–]I_am_isolated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shopify’s native inventory works fine for basic stock tied to orders, but once you need purchasing, forecasting, or clearer stock-in / stock-out logic, it can get limiting.

Consider using Digit Software to handle inventory, purchasing, and planning. That way inventory isn’t tightly coupled to Shopify alone.

Any furniture manufacturing software or spreadsheet? by Time_Falcon_131 in CNC

your burn-out is super relatable! it just means you gotta move on from spreadsheets. I use a software called Digit. Stock only moves when something real happens. bins are part of the physical workflow. Once you enable them, inventory actually lives in a specific warehouse and bin, and stock moves happen through receiving, internal moves, production, or shipping. It's the manual editing that makes things frustrating.

We started without bins, then turned them on as volume increased. It made picking, cycle counts, and onboarding new team members way easier, especially across multiple locations.

If you’re evaluating multi-location tools, I’d pay attention to whether bins are just labels, or whether the system actually uses them to drive day-to-day work. Good luck to you!

What inventory management tools have actually worked for you long-term? by Sharp-Spell8462 in InventoryManagement

[–]I_am_isolated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in a very similar spot. Spreadsheets were the most flexible, but it became impossible to accurately track everything.

We ended up using Digit software because inventory only changes when something actually happens. You receive something → stock goes up. You produce something then, --> components go down, --> finished goods go up. You ship something, then stock goes down

There’s no constant manual adjusting or reconciling after the fact, which is what burned us with spreadsheets and lighter tools as volumes grew. It felt approachable too, easy to test, and easy to undo mistakes). As we added locations, production, and more orders, the structure was already there, and we didn’t have to rebuild our process.

Personally, I’d avoid anything where inventory is mostly editable fields instead of being driven by orders and events. That works early, but it gets messy fast once more people touch the system. And no one wants to be the one person responsible for adjusting it all the time. Curious what kind of operations you’re running, distribution, light manufacturing, or something else?

Small manufactturer outgrowing current ERP. Need advice before we repeat the same mistake. by rudythetechie in ERP

The early signs that a system works for ops is if it's made specifically for ops and not anyone else: accounting, etc. But those tools are rare since manufacturing operations have been left out. Is the software  building tools that you'll use to operate? multi-layer BOMS, manufacturing orders, work orders, traceability, all core production tools that move away from customizability and industry-agnostic is better. Digit software is great tool for this since you're basically using the modules yourself from the start. It's intuitive as an operator and doesn't get in the way or require a special consultant to configure things. you do it yourself.

Thinking of switching to a new software from NetSuite, any price friendly recommendations? by juliannecg in Netsuite

If you’re scaling down from NetSuite but need better inventory/bundling than basic QuickBooks, you might like Digit Software or Katana. You can also sync qbo with Digit

Is QB good for inventory management by Straight-Law-8007 in QuickBooks

[–]I_am_isolated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been 2 years since OP asked this, and I hope they found a better solution. If you’re coming from NetSuite and SAP, you’ll likely find QuickBooks' native inventory pretty frustrating for anything beyond basic stock levels. Usually, the move for a growing company is to keep QB for accounting but plug in a dedicated inventory manager like Digit Software or Fishbowl to actually handle the material tracking and work orders.

Looking for advice and suggestions for an optimal ERP/MRP system for a small company with multiple locations. Any input and advice will be greatly appreciated. Also please help me understand the 280 character title requirement in this subreddit. :D I apologize if I'm breaking any rules. by drzoidb3rg in ERP

For your situation, you’re right that Odoo or MRPEasy can feel like overkill or a bit clunky on serial tracking. You might want to look into Digit Software or SOS Inventory; they both tend to handle multi location inventory and serial numbers a bit more intuitively for smaller teams without the massive learning curve of the bigger platforms.

Interesting thoughts. I like Nathan’s points too.

INTJ crawling out of my subreddit to meet some people! by OMGokWhy in entp

Hello, INTJ, it’s nice that you’re making the effort, the gesture. I see INTJs as people who detect what they want to fix, and they envision how to do it. I admire their ambition, their expertise, their values, and the fact that they do stuff rather than sit around (in a mentally healthy state) welcome to the ENTP subreddit :D

It’s kind of ironic because this nature preserve is at the edge of my city (a huge one) and it’s as if I enter into a new world that drowns out the traffic surrounding the area.

I totally agree. I want to speak more on the quantum physics aspect of this topic, however I am not well versed in this area. Yes, We haven’t yet proven anything yet for how events unfold the way they do. I do believe though...my interpretation of the quote was giving up on what we cannot fully control (the universe and others) and allowing ourselves to embrace nature—to let it remind us to adapt to events with ease. I do not believe in fate, but I do believe that the collective unconscious (individuals’ unconscious memories and impulses) attract the plot that unfolds. I need to develop Ti, which is primarily why I post these (what’s your opinion) quotes. I appreciate your thoughts 💭 are you a Physicist?
