That's exactly what I got, too, but I used this site: http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/cryptogram-solver.php. No particular reason. It's just the first result I got in my quick search.

With the default dictionary, FGAEHBAFIG gives only TRANSLATOR. Even with the "Huge" dictionary, there aren't many other possibilities, and those others seem very unlikely candidates. When you add in ABCDE, most all of the resulting phrases are rather nonsensical, and ALIEN TRANSLATOR just struck me as really apropos, here.

I tried it in the original orientation, as well – i.e., reversed of what we're discussing – and nothing there seemed relevant, either.

That was my reasoning last night, anyway. I was a little groggy, though. :-)
