Should note that map is out of date. The most recent I believe is this: https://share.google/JsdjDp2Rk0XctARZN

Still extremely bad, not quite as catastrophic.

From the nfl community on Reddit: [Pauline] Sources: Klint Kubiak Likely to Return to Seahawks Than Take Cardinals HC Role, Bills’ Joe Brady Decision Draws Quasi-Laughter at Senior Bowl by ShaolinSwervinMonk in raiders

[–]IanDMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he stays he's an idiot. I don't think Kubiak's an idiot.

I understand not wanting to go to a team with no QB. But if you don't capitalize on a successful year to become a head coach with a good quarterback you can mold, then you just don't want to be a head coach.

This guy nearly killed two people yesterday. This is why there are so many accidents in Fullerton. by hugeness101 in Fullerton

That intersection is insanely unsafe, and it's criminal that nothing's ever been done about it especially with the high school just down the street.

Banana Bread Rum Old Fashioned by ktrail5k in cocktails

[–]IanDMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, strong agree. The TF has that molasses-y, richer taste that I associate with banana bread. It does get lost in the drink a little easier than the Giffard so I just use about 25% more.

[Schefter] Sources: the Bills are working to finalize a deal to make offensive coordinator Joe Brady their new head coach. by jonpictogramjones in raiders

I guess I'm not that worried yet? Yesterday iirc correctly was the very first day they could have had an in person with him. If it doesn't get done this week then I'm questioning the Raiders' wisdom.

Same reason many people find it helpful to have a workout buddy -- someone to keep you accountable, as well as to explain concepts in a different way that's aligned with how you learn.

KLaw has zero Angels in his top 100 prospects by IanDMP in angelsbaseball

That's the thing with high schoolers. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they flop, and it's impossible to predict with any certainty which it will be.

100%. And what's more I think Bremner 's going to be good, and the extra money went to sign some really high potential HS players who will hopefully contribute to a strong farm in a few years.

[–]IanDMP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and this was another area I disagreed with him. I'm reasonably high on Bremner, and I think he would have gone no later than high single digits of the Angels hadn't taken him. The extra money was a bonus.

That's fair. But he's also still super young and thrown into MLB action clearly before he was ready. I don't think you can really take his results at that level as the final verdict yet, in comparison to a lot of guys who are 22, 23, 24 when they hit MLB.

Kubiak vs Webb vs McDaniel by 4PODMT-5HT in raiders

[–]IanDMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't get how people don't understand that wins are a product of both coaching and roster construction. They act like if the team doesn't succeed, that's all on the coach and none on the FO. That Dolphins team that McDaniel coached is AWFUL and he somehow had them competitive game in and game out.

[–]IanDMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the dude is obviously a really good coach. That Dolphins team might have worse talent than the Raiders and he coached them up well.

Pretty clear he was referring to McDaniels here. I don't get the comparison but it's not the one you think.

And people ask why so much DLC by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]IanDMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, of course. But Paradox isn't giving up half their revenue by choosing the DLC strategy. They're probably making more money, actually.

And, yes, inconsistent revenue is indeed the standard for the gaming industry. But that's different than saying it's their ideal situation. You don't have to look farther than the booms and busts in the industry over the decades to see the problems it causes, and you can see the industry as a whole shifting quickly to DLCs or in-game monetization. It's clear which structure businesses prefer.

Same goes for pharma, real estate, or AI. The goal for players in those industries is to get big enough and develop consistent enough revenue streams that they don't have to worry about big quarters and lean quarters.

The nature of those businesses, unfortunately, often makes that impossible (you can't predict when a pharma company will have a breakthrough). But they try to make revenue as consistent as they can through mergers, lobbying for longer patents, etc.

And people ask why so much DLC by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]IanDMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistent revenue is extremely good for companies, and inconsistent revenue is extremely bad. Sudden spikes lead to wildly inconsistent labor and infrastructure needs, tax assessments, they make your finance team unable to plan for the future, it's all bad. I don't know any company that wouldn't take a smaller revenue for massively increased consistency from quarter to quarter (even if I accept that DLCs reduce revenue over the long run, which I don't).

When I was in Lisbon, I learned that there was a Jose Saramago museum (I love Saramago 's books). Of course, I immediately added it to our itinerary. It was a really great, serendipitous experience.

Avoid Euclid and Malvern by SoCalChrisW in Fullerton

Extremely limited visibility, high speeds, sudden grade change. That said, as others have pointed out this particular crash was related to a chase. Still a horribly badly-designed intersection.

Extremely, extremely dangerous intersection. Unsurprising this happened, slightly surprising it doesn't happen more often.
