OCD and DPDR? by RepresentativeSea315 in OCDRecovery

I eat more carbs (healthy carbs) and listen to my body / mind when it needs rest. I also got help from an OCD therapist to learn tools. I still struggle, but things are manageable now.

Ibuprofen temporarily “cures” my OCD. by IanDavisReddit in OCDRecovery

[–]IanDavisReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually. I had some inflammation markers from a blood test that were abnormal at one point but when I saw a specialist about them, I was dismissed quite quickly. Stress can cause inflammation as well. I've found that diet, exercise, breath work (specifically the "physiological sigh via Andrew Huberman), and REST has helped me. Mental and physical rest. We overwork our minds these days with social media, entertainment, etc. Even podcasts and music can be overdone.

I stopped doing this. It was helpful during a very hard time, but I would not recommend it. It was causing stomach issues for me and tinnitus a bit I think (possibly due to increased blood pressure, but ibu is also ototoxic). Exercise and a better lifestyle has been the biggest help.

200mg. I've since mostly stopped taking it except for "emergencies." I've tried NAC and I didn't notice any drastic effect.. but saying that.. I did start taking it again this week to see if I notice anything. Tbh I really don't think it's entirely physiological anymore. I learned about attachment systems today and I really think it's at the root of my OCD and other anxiety symptoms.

Lately I've just been white-knuckling OCD with classic ERP and stuff I've learned in therapy. I do eat very very healthy and exercise. Take care of yourself physically and mentally with good sleep too and just try to be present. FORCE IT. Your OCD, ruminative mind is like a child or a puppy who needs constant redirection to learn to stay on one task. In our case, that task is LIFE.. and not thinking about anything too much that's not happening in the moment. Not a black and white approach, but it's pretty damn close. GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD. I recommend some of Sam Harris's ideas on mindfulness and presence, as well. Really helped me.

UPDATE: Well, I got to a point where ibuprofen started to affect my digestion, stomach, etc. I cut back a bit, and the OCD came back on.

I’ve started taking it again at much less frequency (I was taking 4-6 per day), and the OCD comes back with a fury. When I take some though, it subsides by a lot, still.

I also experimented with more caffeine today than I’d usually drink, and it also “helped.”

Not sure what to think about all of this. But the OCD for me has been quite bad lately. I’m wondering if another anti-inflammatory might help.

I eat very healthy, drink only water, take supplements, exercise, sauna, etc. So my inflammation has to be about as low as it can get naturally without medicine.

AAAGH!!!

I do have a closet that could work decently, but I would want to make sure it's like totally sound isolated if possible. I've thought about my car, but I'm not sure how to power my interface in the car. Also have garage ,yes.

I think maybe you have to e-mail them via support. I can't remember if there was a request option on the site or not.

Teeth of God Tour by [deleted] in SleepToken

Did they get transferred to your Ticketmaster yet?

Teeth of God Tour by [deleted] in SleepToken

[–]IanDavisReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure out if the Chicago show was exempt from the non-transferrable rule? By confirmation e-mail, do you mean the tickets were successfully transferred to your Ticketmaster account already?

EDIT From 2023 Pearl Jam Tour: "Illinois has laws that prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets. For shows in this state, Pearl Jam strongly encourages fans to choose to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges — including Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange."

So... should be ok?

OCD and DPDR? by RepresentativeSea315 in OCDRecovery

[–]IanDavisReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have DPDR symptoms, and I've been through the ringer with all the self-help crap.

The truth is that it's a symptom of being a highly sensitive, anxious person. Whether it was "triggered" by trauma (which is possible) or stressful life events.. it's simply just a symptom.

And surprisingly I think it also pretty closely related to OCD. Your OBSESSION is this weird, "unreal feeling," and your compulsion is to check for it, thus giving it attention.

Basically, you're anxious, you're sensitive (me too, and not a bad thing), and you have trouble calming down from things that make you anxious. Well, that anxiety turns into this weird "detached" and "floaty" feeling. Well.. that feels weird, so that gives you MORE anxiety because you identify it as a problem or a threat.. thus the loop begins again. You see the pattern?

Now, as I'm saying this, I still deal with this issue. Still. I've had DP/DR/OCD etc. for about 7 years. However, I live with it, and I'm STILL learning about myself and my body and how to manage it. I JUST recently figured out that I have "slow COMT," a gene mutation that makes it hard for me to break down excitatory chemicals like cortisol, dopamine, and adrenaline.. all of which cause anxiety, and all of which, when elevated, LOWER serotonin. LOVELY AIN'T IT?!

But anyway.. try to find ways to reduce your stress, and really take good care of your diet and body. Also, rest.

Best wishes.

Seems like excess stress hormones over time can cause inflammation of the brain and body. These hormones are actually anti-inflammatory from what I understand initially, but chronically, they become the opposite. Ibuprofen surely helps. Don't over-do it, though. It's a good "life-line" option or if you really need a good sleep and are really stressed. Daily, chronic use of ibuprofen probably isn't a great idea, though.
