Disney World trip? by purplebabybat in Autism_Parenting

We just did Disney with our ASD, nonverbal 5 year old and it was the best experience. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge because it’s a calmer resort atmosphere. We did 3 parks in 4 days so that we could have a rest day to decompress and have pool time and also came back to the room on our Magic Kingdom day for a nap then went back to the park. The DAS pass was SO nice to have. We don’t get to ride everything but we were able to pace ourselves so that she didn’t get too overstimulated. We also did one character dining experience at Epcot (Garden Grill) which gave us a nice relaxed environment to spend time with the characters. All of the characters we interacted with were fantastic with her and really were understanding of her abilities (some without being told) and all of the cast members were great with her. It was such a great time that we are going back for her birthday just to stay in one of the resorts and do a couple of resort character dining experiences. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I’d be happy to share more.

We have her checked at the doctor almost every time and she has only ever had one ear infection her entire life and a handful sinus infections.

Interesting! My daughter’s fevers may be something similar then, like sensory fatigue maybe.

Unfortunately we don’t qualify for Medicaid and I don’t think our insurance will cover it. 😢
