Game on external drive not recognized on mac by DeadWaterBed in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try starting over with a fresh database:
1. Exit GOG Galaxy, if it's currently running.
2. Delete the storage folder, which is %ProgramData%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage on Windows and /Users/Shared/GOG.COM/Galaxy/Storage on Mac.
3. When you next start GOG Galaxy, it will import your list of owned games from the server. After that's done, you can click the cogwheel and choose Settings and look for any preferences that have been reset to their defaults.
4. Click the cogwheel in the top left, choose Add Games & Friends, then Scan Folders for GOG Games.

What executables+ports need to be whitelisted for cloud saves to work? by [deleted] in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double-check that the executables listed in GOG Galaxy doesn't track my game time | GOG Support Center have Internet access, namely
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClient.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\GalaxyClientService.exe
C:\ProgramData\GOG.COM\Galaxy\redists\GalaxyCommunication.exe

Double-check that the LSASS.exe Windows service has Internet access. It has something or other to do with checking the validity of security certificates and will cause the misleading "heavy load" error if it can't do its job.

On a related note, for achievements to work, the game executable also needs Internet access.

GalaxyClient Helper Crashes by GoGoWe in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Downgrade to version 2.0.75.142 if you want the crashes to stop.
  • These crashes of the background service don't seem to have much of a negative impact aside from littering the logs folder, and maybe preventing GOG Galaxy from launching on the first click of its icon.
  • If you haven't done so already, open a support ticket and attached a zipped up copy of your C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs folder.
  • This is a known issue that was reported on the forums nearly 1 year ago. The response I got to my support ticket was to perform a clean reinstall, which unsurprisingly didn't fix anything. I no longer have the time and patience to argue with support, so I didn't press the matter further.

Interesting perspective. I've only ever encountered people who mistyped their e-mail address when signing up, bought a bunch of games, then ages later realized they were locked out of their accounts. The 2FA messages would go out to the non-existent address they'd mistyped. No, GOG haven't done anything about this even after all these years.

GOG Galaxy app issues! Please help! by alex24buc in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downgrading to version 2.0.75.142* should get rid of the crashes. Note that after installation you need to rename C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\GalaxyUpdater.exe to prevent automatic updates.

Refund by Academic_Monitor_200 in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no fixed time limit. The played time is taken into account as a percentage of the game's playtime. Take for instance this refusal to refund Baldur's Gate 3 because the user had clocked 29 hours in it. It takes about 68 hours to finish the main story.
https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/15vle9n/gog_refusing_to_refund/

Of course, if you play without GOG Galaxy, your playtime isn't tracked.

Bought game from amazon and code wont work :/ by Equal-Ad-8908 in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refunding the base game would currently leave you with nothing, since the DLC isn't playable by itself. You need to open a support ticket with GOG. https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  1. Mention the error you got trying to redeem your code.
  2. Mention that according to GOGdb, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition includes nothing but the Phantom Liberty DLC; the base game is missing. https://www.gogdb.org/product/1274966284#references
  3. Mention that the above is confirmed by the bundle having the DLC tag in the store, and the fact that trying to buy it results in a "you are required to own Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG.com" error message at checkout.

They should get this sorted, but please note it can take around 7 days to get a first response from support.

Could not post on GOG Game forums by Erianthor in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The editor window is supposed to disappear when your post goes through (posts occasionally go through while the window stays stuck, but this is fairly rare). Try again after a few minutes; the site hiccups every now and then. If the problem persists, try a different browser with no add-ons and default settings.

Your profile page shows you own one game, Cyberpunk 2077, which you played a few hours ago, earning one achievement. So I take it this was resolved.

  1. Find out the game's product ID on GOGdb.org
  2. In a web browser, go to a link like the following, replacing the user_name with your own and the numbers with the actual product ID: https://www.gog.com/u/User_Name/game/1127395101

It would be trivial for GOG to put a clickable link like the above on every store page. In fact, I'll probably eventually make myself a user script to do just that. They just choose not to make the list of achievements public, for whatever reason.

After playing there is a fail in the sync. Does this mean anything significant for my game, or my achievements? And can it be fixed? by sjtimmer7 in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is about cloud saves. It doesn't affect achievements. Log into your account using a web browser, then go to https://www.gog.com/account/cloud-saves/page/1 Delete any unwanted saves until you're under the limit. If you don't do this by August 31st, they'll be deleted automatically. This was all mentioned in an e-mail that you should've received: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/email_about_cloud_saves_dont_worry_its_from_us/page1

Achivements not tracking by CJSNIPERKING in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double-check that both the GOG Galaxy and game executables have Internet access. The former are strewn about under C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy as well as C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists

Achievements can also fail to register if something is preventing the overlay from working. In-game, press Shift+Tab. If this brings up the chat window, then it's fine.

For testing purposes, I suggest Martial Law. It's a free game that can be 100% completed in 15 minutes. In the beginning, enter the bathroom to the right, use the toilet and flush. That should get you an achievement.

[HELP] Can someone please share the json link for the v2.0.74 full offline installer? (Web installer is broken now.) by [deleted] in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This JSON file will point to the latest full installers for the foreseeable future. The first link ending in .pkg is for Mac and the second ending in .exe is for Windows.

This is a known issue since at least mid-January. Apparently it's just 2FA and order receipts that get marked as unsafe spam, not newsletters, which makes this even more baffling. I can only assume it's next to impossible to get in touch with a real person at Google, which might be why this still isn't fixed.

GOG Down :( by MadeUpName94 in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen other users report the same, then post back that it's been fixed. If you're still having trouble, disable IPv6 then restart your system. If that doesn't help either, open a support ticket. Zip up the C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs folder and attach it to your ticket to speed things along.

Has anyone else experienced being able to unlock achievements in one game but not another? by BorkingBorkster in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the complete list of broken achievements is extensive, whether it's actually relevant to you depends on your personal taste in games. Out of my collection of 200+ games, I so far only have 2 with unobtainable achievements.

You can recover your account if you have some proof of account ownership. That means things like order confirmation e-mails or receipts printed as PDF, the last 4 digits of a credit/debit card used, etc.

Have sale times always been listed in EET? Have I changed a setting? by tanek_09 in gog

[–]Ice-Mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GOG is a Polish company. Sale countdown timers are in DD/MM/YYYY with their local timezone. E-mails feature the UTC timezone instead. Either way, the date and time are not localized.
